I hate the summer!!! If you could call it that

This has to be the worst summer i have witnessed in my thirty years. For a month now it has been raining every day, either drizzle and low cloud or torrential downpours. Usually are summers are quite pleasant and occasionally scorchers but this year has been a total wash out. Heres some pics taken today at about 1600 hrs. I was up in the snake room and heard this almighty roll of thunder, looked out the skylight and this is what i was greeted with

Also just found out via the news that the international airport has flooded, there has been landslides along our coast road and some flooding in around the town.

Yup, same thing here in Texas! It's rained almost every day this summer, I've never seen anything like it.

well in VA its been hotter than ever. 93 currently out side with blue skys but humidity is insane. we are expecting rain for the first time in a while ( had some the other day and small showers a month or two back) but its only 30% each day so i dont know what we will end up getting. sorry for the bad weather

It's like that in OK too....we had a 20 something day streak where it rained everyday. And for weeks before that it ''drizzled" but they didn't count that stuff. The last two weeks there have been some scorchers, so it's drying up a bit finally. And I found out why this town is called Stillwater....nothing here drains!! It rains, and the water just sits there. There is too much red clay for the ground to soak up much water. It hasn't been as bad here as some places, but we have had housed flood and several roads closed due to water. Weird summer....

THIS STORM WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SMALL HAIL AND WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH.

THE COMMUNITIES OF GATEWOOD AND PARTLOW WILL BE AFFECTED BY THIS STORM.

RESIDENTS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT IN CASE WARNINGS ARE ISSUED.

We could use some rain...i think the last time it rained here, it was January...

This is a drainage ditch in my neighborhood. Normally, the kids play in it, as the water is a mere trickle that can be stepped over.

Woah Surfs up man!!, I am in Sunny Southern calif and its hot as hades here. I am not looking foward to the electric bill we are going to get slammed with due to air conditioning. last year the most expensive bill was $650 I have never been buggered like that before.
I wish it was raining at least it would be nice and cool and my cars would be getting a nice wash...Time for you all to take up boating

dayuuum, my most expensive PG&E bill runs 40 dollars... im lovin that NorCal weather.

Whoa.. we have had hot weather dotted with T-storms and cilly nights in the 40-degree-farenheit range. Definately a strange summer.. the ground is so dry that when it does rain, the water just beads up on the surface! Weeds love it; pasture grasses are pathetically sparse. I am preparing to pay an armload for hay this year.

Ok all you guys.....you NEED to send me some of that water. Here in Tucson AZ it has been running around 110 degrees:eek: It is suppose to be monsoon season and so far all we have gotten are thunderstorms with huge huge rain clouds that tease us with rain then move on:(

And yet again the thunder, lightning and torrential rain is flooding in. I know to some people extreme weather, especially in the states is an occasional occurrence but to us folk over here in Ireland its virtually unheard of. You ARE! :D That's awesome! I know you'd much rather be taking pictures of the lush green hillsides with blue skies...but those really are spectacular images, even so.

I hope things settle down for you soon, and you get at least a few weeks of nice weather before winter sets in! :hug:

Thanks Judy but thats the beauty of Irish weather. Hopefully things will pick up soon plus winter doesn't kick in too bad until about late December. September and October are great months, well for me anyway, the lights brilliant around that time of year for taking pictures.

My picture was also shown on the 1830 hrs national news, as well as on the BBC website. Its been a good day apart from the woeful weather
