    Most affordable morph?
Which are the most affordable and will not put a humongous dent in your pocket?

What price range do you consider affordable?

What may be affordable to one person may not be affordable to the next.

Co-dominant mutations like pastels, cinnies, yellowbellies, and mojaves are pretty much the cheapest morphs out there right now.

If you spend as much as $350, you should be able to get a nice quality male pastel.

There's nothing "cheap" about ball pythons. Your experience shouldn't be cheap, you shouldn't cheapen your experience by settling for cheap or only looking for cheap over quality.

That's my problem with using the word cheap, when it has to do with ball pythons (or any living creature in my care).

The word "Affortability" cannot in any way merge into the description of an object's quality, while the word "cheap" can.

Did that idea work for anyone else because it bearly worked for me lol.

all about how you look at it, you look at the word cheap a lot differently then I do. So saying you can get a pastel for $200.00 to me is infact cheap. Never said anything about the snake itself, just the price.

Get what you really love if you feel it's going to take you a little longer to get your first morph so be it. Don't settle on one cause of the price.:2cent:

Personally I think that Pastels are an excellent value if you don't have a lot of money to spend. I like their looks better then a lot of the more expensive morphs.

Make sure to get a picture of the actual animal you are buying. A pastel that is more expensive is not necessarily a better looking one. What the breeder thinks of as a 'real smoker', may not be what you're ideal of the perfect look may be.

I agree with you Robin; I hear you! I hate hearing the word Cheap. It brings to mind other words with negative connotations, such as unsturdy, tacky, etc.

Heh; that is nothing that I would consider neg-repping-worthy. It definately wasn't me that did that.
The most affordable morph has to be Pastels.

if i were going to go affordable i would get a pair of hets and breed them. i would eventually with some luck get many of the same morph.

I agree...price isnt stopping me from getting what I want...for example.

One of my favorite snakes currently is the Honeybee.
I dont have $10,000+ so the solution...I bought a spider and working on getting a ghost to one day create a honeybee.... and there I will get the snake I love...and a couple other beauties along the way.

Get a co-Dom best bet for an affordable (Cinnamon, pastel, mojave...and if you look in the right places you can get a lesser for really good prices.)

guys i dont really like the word cheap neccesarly but dont bust on someone just because they used a certain word. Some may feel that cheap is a negative word while others view it diffrently. lets not get hung up on a word and ruin a post...

As for the origanal poster i would say look at some of the lower priced morphs spiders, pastels, albinos etc and save to get what you like. personally i like spiders and want to save up to get that as my first morph.

P.S sorry for bad spelling and grammar i am typing rather quickly because i am going to bed so i can get up early tommarow

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same question. Do I have any hope of getting an albino, lavender, or pied for $500 or under? I don't care about the sex, but female would be cool, but probably unrealistic, huh?

I don't plan to breed at this point, just want the morph look.

    Thanks,
    Melissa

No, despite the rapid drop in the albinos this year I think we are still a few years away from $500.00 recessive morphs. Lavender albinos and pieds will be even longer.

Sure, and I'm also sure you could probably find them even cheaper then that. I was thinking more along the lines of what the average price would be. Not the price of some Bozo dumping them in a panic.

You are quite right. I'm sure the quality and health on many of the lower priced animals is very good. However a bargain basement price DOES indicate an inexperienced seller who may not be there for you if a problem should arise.

    Re: Most affordable morph?
Perhaps, but a high price tag doesn't indicate an experienced seller who will, either. Reputation counts for something too. It's always riskier to buy from an 'unknown' than from someone with good references. On the other hand, there's no way for a person to get a good reputation if no one buys from unknowns.

To me, the difference between paying 1500 and 500 for a snake (all else being equal) is the extra thousand I might be screwed out of if they don't do good business.
