Just got them yesterday, need to clean them up.

Note: Thats not what they are kept in, they have an outsde pen, and an inside pen. They arent for food (snake or human lol), they will be pampered pets.

They are adorable. I had a chick fall asleep in my hands because they were warm. It was so cute. I don't think I'd ever keep chickens because I don't ever think I'll have the space but they are cute when they are little.

    They are just awesome animals.
I used to have one that would come to me, and would sit on my shoulder like a parrot, but when we moved to the city i had to rehome her.
We moved back to the country and i wanted some more.

    Ive always loved chickens.

How big of a coop do you have for them? I am in the middle of designing something, and am really at a loss. All of the people I know just let them roam their barns.. I want more of a contained approach to keeping the ones I will be getting.
    Or are yours free-ranging?

    No, they cant be.
My dogs are killers. Right now as chicks they are in a 4x6x6 outside, and inside they have a 2x4x2.
    I'm making a 6 tall x12 long x10 wide coop for them.

I can't look at chicks anymore without thinking of the "Dirty Jobs" episode where Mike has to squeeze the turds out of the little chicks to sex them.

Gin, contact your local Extension Office....you know...4-H??? For like .50 (or maybe now it's $1.50) you can actually buy plans for a chicken coop/house. Poultry is still a 4-H project, so all the beginner training / knowledge, parts of the bird, diseases, feeding, care, husbandry are in the booklets you can buy. It's (4-H) for kids, but you can buy the booklets. :D :D Look in the gov't pages of your phone book for your local office location. :)
