Albino hatched. The het gods were looking down on me

I was pretty excited to open the bin up and see this little guy crawling around . I was not holding my breath for any albinos as the female was 66% het for albino and the males was 100% het for albino and 50% het for pied. Both unproven. So yes, I was rolling the dice on these 2 for sure. Well the gamble paid off. I am pretty pumped about it.

So here are my questions:

So this makes both the parents 100% het for albino correct? Dad also has a 50% chance of carrying the pied gene but I have not prooved that out yet.

What does this make the normal offspring? Which are all females :carrot:

Yup...Both 100% het and the normal babies are 66ers...

congrats .... always good to prove them out . I'm awaiting a Het male 'bino ( just waiting to find out what the parents was to suss the % as it were ).

Congrats Chris. Proving out Poss. Hets is one of the most exhilirating things about this hobby, I think. It couldn't have happened to a better guy. Very nice looking, boy/girl?, you got their.

Big congrats Chris, and good odds on that clutch for sure! Technically if papa is 50% het pied the clutch is possible het pied as well (25%). If you have the room, it can't hurt to grow 'em up try and prove those out as het pieds as well.

thank you so much for the kind words. It really is nice to see your work come to fruition. This has been my first year in breeding and I have learned so much. I really am looking forward to this next year for sure. It is a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs, but when you finally hatch your first het it outweighs any of the downs. I have another het albino clutch in the incubator now, so lets hope the het gods are good to me as they were on this one.

The best feeling about this is, I bought these snakes from a local guy who i just got a good feeling from. It is so risky buying hets from no names, so it really makes me feel good to see there are still good honest people in this snake world... if you don't have a ton of money and want to make a morph the het is the way to go for sure... this is proof in the pudding.

I have some 100% het pied females that should go this year so I may take a gamble and see if papa has the gene in him for sure ( he is 50% het pied as well). So who knows, the worst that could happen is create poss het pied het albino offspring and thats not too bad of a deal.

Evan, I will do that for sure. I dont think any project can have to many het albino females. It sure would be nice if they did carry that nifty little pied gene.. I will let you know in three years ( damn thats a long time )
