Petco has sales every year where they drop the price of ball pythons to $29.99 with the PALS card. Just looked on line at our circular - they're on sale....sigh...sadly, many will go to homes that haven't done a lick of research on the proper care or know about this forum for help.

Yep 30 dollars I am glad I happened to pop in there they are running out fast! I am lucky I know of this site if I need any help or have any problems! Question When they r young do their spines stick up pointy? Is that normal? He doesn't look too thin to me just sharp on top LOL? Any Comments?

No, it's not normal - they should be well filled out and not triangular. Petco's ball pythons are captive hatched, so it would probably be good to take fecal samples to a qualified herp vet (not a vet that primarily sees dogs and cats) to test for internal parasites.
I see from other posts that you have more than one. I hope that you are practicing quarantine and keeping them completely separate and thoroughly washing your hands between handling. Quarantine should be 60-90 days.
His neck is very sunken in. How many days does Petco give on a health guarantee? I would get a wellness check done on him before that time expires.

Good luck with those snakes, however usually you get what you pay for with regards to Balls. Petco probably paid less than $5 each for those snakes, and they probably don't invest a lot of money on feeding or vet costs and treatment. I'd suggest that you make an appointment for a full checkup including fecal test.
Unfortunately you will often find that that "bargain" snake will cost you a lot more in the long run to get a healthy snake...

I noticed that too. What could cause that? Dehydration?
Petco gives you 30 days.

wow thirty days.. the one by us gives you 15. that isn't even enough time to make sure you have a feeding ball python.

I have to agree. I've been very lucky with my little rescue snake so far. She's very healthy and social. Since I work at a pet store, I wouldn't suggest buying pets (except for, perhaps, rodents and the like) from a chain. The store I work at is privately owned and those are the ones I recommend. In my experience, they do more research about the animals they purchase because they have a reputation to hold. That's just my experience. :2cent:

Yeah I agree now cuz I don't think they care about the snakes as much either they just want to make the sale no matter what they sell u! I talked to a vet and they said from the looks and condition of the BP he most likely has parasites and they r eating his nutrients so he won't grow he loses weight instead! Oh and it is 15 days for petco! I called and I returned the snake and suggested quarantine to them like the vet told me! But thanks for the info from all!
