    Daytona and kids
So who all is bringing their kids to Daytona? I'll have my 16 yr old daughter and 7 yr old son, which makes childcare a cinch for me :D

Yeah, I wouldn't dream of it if one of mine weren't old enough to sit. But we're also going to Orlando for a few days after Daytona, so it will be like a full vacation.

I don't know if you have ever been to St. Augustine but that is an awesome get a way vacation. Cool shops too.

But as for kid things to do I didn't see many..Well there is an aligator farm and that was cool. Alot of ghosty things too.

Well, the family wants to go to Island of Adventure and Kennedy Space Center. I'm hoping to squeeze in the Titanic Museum as well.
We've just taken all our major vacations in Orlando (I'm so over Disney!), I'm hoping one year we'll get to go to D.C. or Philly or Seattle, haha.

there are quite a few things in Orlando you can appreciate, besides Disney

You should definitely try to fit in the Orlando Science Center.

There's also Harry P Leu Gardens (1920 N. Forest Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32803; Tel. 407.246.2620) I have some recent pictures if you're interested...PM me :)

Also, on I-Drive...right down the road from Ripley's (which is pretty cool) and the Titanic museum, there's a place called Skyventure Orlando, which is simulated Skydiving. You get put in this wind tunnel and fly around as if you're falling to the earth...soooo much fun! If your daughter is a thrill seeker then she'll surely appreciate that...much better than any Disney "thrill ride"

Cool, thanks for that info, Nate! I'll look into those. That simulated skydiving sure sounds fun :D

Ok, so I'm going to be the only one there with kids. That's ok, I think they will have a really good time. They are both really into animals of all kinds.

We always take are kids when we go the past 4 yrs. My kids are 11 and 4 they are both good kids and we don't go to meet up with anyone / party so it's not a big deal. We just drive over for the buy what we want drool at what we can't afford then go home.

There is that place next door can't remember the name of it but there is an arcade, water park, gocarts all at one place. It's to the west of the parking garage.

I guess I didn't mean it that we are anti social if we see people we know from online or in real life we stop to chit chat. I mean we don't do the social thing outside the expo like a lot of people enjoy.

We are looking forward to Daytona as we'll be buying our first Ball Python and can't wait! We've gone as tort/turtle people before and enjoyed looking at the snakes but now we get to go with the sole reason to buy a BP. I'm sure I'll come home with at least one new tort though they are so hard to pass up!

We're planning to combine a Daytona snake show trip and a family holiday to Disney in a few years when Mikey is big enough to go on all the rides. Since our kids are snake crazy they'll be welcome to attend the show if they want with us. If not Luke or Beth will be more than old enough to keep their younger brother busy while we do drool over snakes for the day. :)

That's how my son is when we go to the local expos. I'm sure he'll need lots of beach/play breaks, which will be just fine with me, but he'll also have a blast looking at all the animals.

Haha, I was just teasing you about the anti-social bit. I didn't figure you'd turn your nose up at everyone :)

That's great that you'll be getting your first bp! I'm sure there will be a lot of great ones to choose from.
