So how old is the site really?
When I went back to look at the oldest posts, it said the year was 1969. I couldn't help but chuckle at that. :)
Re: So how old is the site really?
I tend to think the forum started 8-5-2003. Because that is the earliest of any of the members join dates!
Re: So how old is the site really?
Ben is right.
The 1969 dates (which, as you said, are chuckle-worthy) came about after a server move that caused a weird database glitch, if I remember correctly.
Re: So how old is the site really?
well didn't Godfather start it and then you guys turned it to vBulletin? It was earlier than 2003 wasn't it?
Re: So how old is the site really?
no the Vbulletin change was after I joined so that was 04 in fact I think that change was in 04

Yes and no. Godfather started it and "admincouncil" changed the software over to vBulletin (which might have been where the funky dates came into play...I'm really not sure)....but the original account creation dates remain the same. Peter started the site in Aug of '03.
Re: So how old is the site really?
Oh my this site is old. It began in the early 03 I think. But it wasn't bp.net. Then I got booted off my subdomain and went to another subdomain with another host. Then in the latter of 03 I got it a domain name an it's own host and it became bp.net.
I put a lot of work into bringing people into bp.net. First of all, you can't just make a community emerge, nobody wanted to post in a dead forum. So I spent hours making bp.net noticeable enough to convince people to join. Then hours spent trying to get people here to make the community alive enough to be self sustaining. I had to get the word out, had to make people want to stay instead of just going to something like KS. It might seem easy, it isn't.
And the 1969 thing has nothing to do with the transfer. It's a glitch in the software I've seen on other sites. Watch out for something along the lines of a member who's post count will read as 0, their join date will then show 1969 I think. And they will have like infinite reps. Crazy stuff, but cool at least.
BTW, to Smulkin. It would be beneficial to look into getting a code to make the site display as html links. Makes the search engines love it a lot more. It will take a couple months to get results, but you'll eventually start getting more hits from search engines and it will help ya grow.

I don't run any forums, barely use the net too much these days. I own 2 balls and a bci right now. Had a atb but was forced to part with him when I left for bootcamp. I spend a lot of time either hanging out, bodybuilding, working, and trying to move my life forward. Girls take up a good portion of my day with their drama.

Speaking as a girl.....get use to it, it will never change. It seems if a girl is 8 or 80 drama is a part of how their wheels turn. Even if their life is drama free it will still find them...thru friends, family etc.
Wow I didn't realize when I joined you guys were only 4 mos old. This site has grown so much. I actually found this site from a google search. Glad I did :)

They usually change when I break it off and they know that very night I'm with a different girl.
Only been 1 girl that ever had my heart, just so happens she has the most drama. I hate having to be perfect when a girl thinks she can act howver she wants.
Re: So how old is the site really?
Damn, bp.net is getting some good unique hits per day. Outgrew most of it's competition from back in the day. I love how bp.net has outgrown some of the other boards who talked :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: from the start and didn't see this site going anywhere.
One particular site used to be massive back in the day. And when bp.net was just beggining some of their admins used proxies and mass trolled bp.net trying to ruin the site. Too bad I knew the same tricks and threatened a retaliation if it didn't cease. And now that site is way behind.
Damn thats cool stuff.
Re: So how old is the site really?
This site rocks, as it did back then (at least from the time I joined.) We can talk snakes and then go and have a thread about politics, and then another about indigestion, and everythijng is all good.. don't see that in a lot of forums!
Re: So how old is the site really?
I agree Gin....i love this site.
I dont post as much as i did when i first joined but i visit everyonce in a while just to poke around and check things out
I remember when that server crashed or somthing happened and the site got moved.....i went through BP.net withdrawls becuase the site was down (or acutally didnt exist) for a little while.
04 actually wasnt really that long ago, but it sure does feel like it!
