Re: My music list has hit 27.5 GB!!!!!!
you ripped them? ripping is putting it from one media form (ie. CD, Vinyl, DVD, etc.) and putting it on your computer, and burning is putting them from your computer onto another form of media...CD DVD Vinyl. If the work is your own then no it isn't piracy. however, supplying media that someone else has produced is indeed piracy, like it or not.

edit: of course it's legal to import music from your own collection. It's giving that collection (from your computer) to someone else that's illegal.

lol yea my bad i ripped them i just woke up and still in that groggy state of trying to find the right words.

so even for like an exchange for music it would be illegal like say a song for a song.

    piracy laws suck

I agree the piracy laws are pretty strict, but it is what it is.

I use Napster to download music. I have a monthly subscription that allows me to have unlimited downloads...but when I cancel my subscriptions, I lose my rights to the music...lame, yes...but I like my subscription and don't plan on canceling any time soon :D

but im gonna be gettin a zume from microsoft and that comes with an mp3's type store like ipod but ipod is to expenisive for my blood right now and the zume is awesome with its blue tooth and song transfer over blue tooth with another zume. but those songs u can only keep for 3 days till they delete themselves. microsoft is trying to make an upgrade so you can keep the songs but havent figured it out yet.

I still have a 1st gen iPod Mini. It's full to the brim(1000 songs) and I have tons more on iTunes. I have to choose which songs I want to put on the mini, which sucks. :(

I am, however, going to buy an iPhone pretty soon, so I'll be able to hear all of my glorious music! :)

I'm at 5300+ songs but I have some noise-core like A.C. and grindcore like Nasum who's songs are anywhere from 3 seconds to 45 seconds long. I'm pretty hard to please music wise so I'm at 17-18 gb's of tunes so maybe in 5 years I'll hit 25 gb's.

I have a good sized collection, maybe 18-20 gigs or so, but I don't have an iPod yet. I bought one of the first mp3 players when it came out. It was over $250 for 32mb as a gift for my g/f

Now, when the hell is Apple going to make an iPod that can use SD cards?!! You can get 2gb SD cards for $16, and they're so small you can fit about 2 tb in your pocket. I'm not paying $250-$300 for $16 worth of storage. I want to be able to switch out my 2 gb hardcore card for one of my 2 gb metal cards without deleting songs and sitting in front of my computer uploading playlists. I mean, I have more than 4 gigs of Pantera and Danzig alone. Sorry for the rant, but I've been waiting years for this option, and Apple sucks.

im sure someone is coming up with an mp3 player that u can switch out sd cards i mean look at cell phones with the micro mini sd cards almost microscopic these things are and they hold 2gb so someone out there has to be thinking of a way to use sd for mp3 players.

but right now comes that hard task of using my 2 gb sd card to load my songs from my desk top to my laptop cuz my desk top needs a fresh start so here's for 4 hours of work that wont get me any where YAY!!!!!!!

I used to have my 60GB ipod completely filled, and still had several thousand songs on iTunes that never made it on. Lost my computer with all the songs and my cds during Katrina, and then my iPod (the only thing left with any of my music collection on it) got stolen when my car was broken into at school.

Already did RCA's new line uses micro SD cards to expand storage...they are one of the few name brands that do this.

Okay, your math is wayyy off. So, first off, 2 gb of storage is $16. Then you say a 30 gb iPod ($250) is $16 worth of storage?! According to your calculations, $240 of a $250 iPod is storage and the other $10 is the actual iPod and interface. Your calculations are..screwed..up.

Apple does not suck by the way. Just had to put that out there. lol

that nuts, I'm only at 3,016 songs 7.51 GB. When I used to work for the cable/internet company they had a music program that we could use/sell to cust, can download as much music as you want and its 100% spam/virus free. The songs due come with license that have to be renewed ever 30 days throug Windows Media Player, which is what keeps it all 100% legal, then if you use Tunebite and re-record the song without the license you can keep the song forever and you never broke any piracy laws.

I own a Zune and LOVE IT! I hate the iPod, the scroll wheel is the biggest pita to use and couldn't stand to be another person with an iPod, so I asked for a Zune for my birthday, couldnt be happier, videos look great, currently have 300, Hostel 2, and a few others on it, 3,000+ songs, and still have like 18GB free.

Actually you would be breaking the DMCA for which the fine is $10K per song.

First you don't "own" those songs you were simple renting them...hence the need to renew every month.

Secondly (even if you did buy them from say via iTunes), the DMCA says you cannot remove or circumvent any electronic copy protection that might be inplace...in this case the license. By removing or getting around it (in anyway) means you have broken the law (this has already been tested in court :) )

Anyway, I have about 100 gigs of music, most of which many of you guys never heard of and would find repulsive to your ears. My dad probably has a terabyte worth of music.

If you find Manson to be repulsive, then I'd steer away from these guys. They are absolutely in no way comparable (all different genres) but generally speaking, the same applies.
