hmmm sounds pretty disappointing. Did you see any boas? That just kinda ruined my anticipation for my first herp event.

...*shock* I never even knew there was a Jacksonville herp event, and I've lived here for all but four years of my life! Where is it at? I'll try to go, if I can.

If Jacksonville Repticon doesn't feed your need to see some amazing balls, come to the Orlando FIRE show July 14 and 15. Greg Graziani, Ballroom Pythons South, Neil Golli, Next World and others are usually there. Great small show - enough to get a fix until Daytona in August.

Aaah...that would be why. I didn't live near there and only went by every once in a while. Now I'm down in Middleburg, lol. I'll try to swing by and check it out I think.

Im going to try and get some rodents, last time there were no rats or mice, but they were giving away rabbits and guinea pigs at the end because they didnt want to travel with them.
Im hoping they will have rats this time.
Im also going for a female retic.

Ya ill be looking for a boa while im there. May buy, may not depends what theyve got.

Also just curious, Ive never been to one of these things but i would assume that these people bring hand sanitizer to these things with all the different animals that are at these things so we dont have to bring our own right?

IMHO, if the breeders are not asking people to use hand sanitizer before they handle their snakes, I wouldn't buy from them. You really don't know what little bigs could be there.

Well I ended up picking up a male colombian boa possibly double het for albino stripe from Ben Cole for $80. I liked his snakes by far more than the others. His Orange Ghost was definately the best BP there, and maybe the best overall snake I saw. The show was pretty small but I enjoyed looking at all the reptiles. Makes me want to consider going to daytona a little harder even though I am now out of the market for another snake.

Also I was a little weirded out by the way everyone had there tree boas in the same little things without any room to climb and probably not near enough humidity. Those guys had to be VERY stressed.

Ahh, I know, that orange ghost was GORGEOUS! If only I had $1000 laying around, waiting to be spent... The spider was pretty hot, too! He took it out and let me hold it--really high white sides and a nice pattern. It was pretty fun but there was one guy in the back right corner with a tank of unsexed baby balls that hadn't fed for $12 apiece!!! DDD8 It was terrible--probably twenty or thirty little hatchlings in one small tank...I felt so bad for them!

Ya, I saw a few people keeping their balls in one 10 gallon tank. I think I saw one person keeping boas this way and they were all on one side of the tank laying on each other, definately didnt look very healthy. He had a couple nice baby pastels for $125, if I was looking for another BP I would have definately gotten one of those! Some people had some stargazers and yawners, too. Ben's snakes just appeared to be kept in great shape with the correct husbandrys, and a guy doing it for the right reasons. I came home and found his website, too and find out some more about him and I liked reading what he had to say on there as well.

Ya, the albinos looked nice. Im personally not a big fan of albinos. When I was roaming around his table I overheard him telling someone if they held off for 6 months to a year (I think thats how long he said) that the market price will probably be going down a couple hundred on them. After reading posts over on KS breeders getting mad about discussions of the market I was especially surprised to hear a breeder tell a potential buyer something like that when he could potentially get current value for them. Atleast hes honest and not afraid of discussing the market with potential buyers.

    Re: Jacksonville Repticon
I was actually surprised at how cheap they were! I asked about the sexes, and they said there were two males and a female in there, all for the same price! I've seen albinos listed for MUCH higher than that recently (1000-1300) and the females were always expensive...I was a bit surprised at seeing them so low, but they were definitely nice looking animals! I think that orange hypo was probably the nicest snake I saw.

I went too, picked up a baby afrock, he told me it was a female, but its a male, im pretty steamed about that, but its a beaut.
It looked hypo next to the others.
Saw a few people i knew that i hadnt seen in a long time, that was nice.
    The albinos were awesome.
It was funny to see ben (house of reptiles) there because i knew he wouldnt have competitive prices, all he had was bugs, and baby turtles.
I went across the street and got to see thier venomous, awesome little devils.

I really wanted to go back at the end, because i knew alot of people would just want to unload snakes, but i didnt have the chance.

Oh yea, did you guys see the hairless mice and hamsters? They were pretty cool, and i should have bought all three of those ASF's but i didnt.
I was hoping there was going to be alot of rodents, but just that one guy with small rats for two dollars.

This year there was ALOT more stuff/people. I was pleased, just wish i had gotten more, the prices were great.

This was my ffirst Repticon show in Jax but i was impressed. I got kind of spoiled in San Diego (were i grew up) because of the IRBA show is so much bigger then that one but I had a good time. My brother walked out with a new friend.

Hmm I guess I should of taken a look at the rodents. I saw the table but didnt bother to take a look. I think thats about all I missed. That big Argos in the back looked pretty cool too. Then of course the adult retic pair back there too which are always impressive. BTW could anyone tell me what kind of snake that was in Ben Cole's 10 gallon on the right side of his area? It looked cool but I didnt really recognize it.
