    Any Soprano watchers out there.....
And if so what are your thoughts on the final ending??

All I can say is I think most fans didn't think it would end like that

Wow the ending was crazy. It had suspense all over it. They made you feel through the whole thing that someones going down. First I thought the son was gonna die, then tonys daughter, then tony when the guy got up to go to the restroom from the diner table. I was shocked I thought the cable went out when it just ended like that. I was like NOOO!!!!..lol it was great. Im a first time watcher and for the first time watching the sopranos I seen the last episode.

Brilliant piece of work by Chase if you ask me. Everyone expected some kind of a "Scarface" type bloodbath in the end or a flip out to get NY in trouble with the feds...both would have been a disastrous ending imo. :)

However, the blank screen in the end leaves one wondering....

Here is a interesting take on the end ( from another board )

    "Tony got popped.

That's actually exactly how I thought it would end if he died. It's more or less a first-person perspective, the show revolves around him, so I kind of envisioned that if he did get killed, the show would just be over.

It recalls the brief flashback from last week's episode, when he's talking to Bobby on the lake (paraphrasing): When it happens, you don't see it coming. Everything just goes black."

    Awesome ending."

I have to go w/ you Raj...it leaves you wondering.

I wonder if they left it open for a movie...Silvio is not dead, Tony has an impending inditement, Who takes over NY? so many questions to just end in black....I think if he was killed, you would have heard a gun shot over black or saw the guy come out of the bathroom towards him....

Haha, funny you should bring that up. That was another take on how things ended according to some. However, the song that was playing in the end contradicts the scenario.

Yes " Don't stop believing" did you notice when he picked it on the jukebox the flip side was "Anyway you want it"

Here is a good take on it, after all it was titled " Made in America "

"..... This episode touched on significant stereotypes throught the entire episode.....The arabs at the beginning, the terrorists in afghanistan....and meadow discussing the stereotypical view of italian americans....the exact reason she wants to get into law. - Why is it we see an italian gentleman enter a restaurant and immediately we tie him to whacking tony, or the mob??? why cant he just be a normal italian american getting some food??? or why is it we belive the black males r going to rob the place??? we were meant to focus on these characters, and chase wanted us to believe wut we did..... people need to realize that these were just regular individuals and we should not be stereotypical....As for the screen going black - i woulda much rathered a fade out of all of them eating together....but the guy in the bathroom does not whack tony - via godfather style, its too Cliche for Chase and the overall genious of the show, they wouldnt rip off n idea like that. people need to jus accept the fact Phil is dead, there is a truce and life has moved on, the family is together and this is how it ends....."

Re: Any Soprano watchers out there.....
Yup, getting arrested by the badly dressed "undercover agent" type or saying "bye-bye" after "meeting" the two gangsters(which is ironically something Tony himself has done in the past to fix his problems) or even something bad happening to Meadow would have been too cliched of an ending; I don't think Chase would have done that to the fans.

I think he left it for us to decide which of these could have transpired or if anything happened at all for that matter. How does one end television history? Don't give it one...

    I am w/ you.

Was the cat looking at Chris because Chris was a rat or was it Adrianna ( sp )

I think that the cat smells a rat...hence looking at Chris' picture....I think (hope)that they are gearing up for a movie.

I didn't like that Carlo flipped. He wasn't a big enough part of the crew (he didn't have a big part in the show) to have any shock value.

I thought that it was a great episode and i really liked the ending it was "life goes on" tony was with his real family which is what the show was all about. IMO he did not die you could look at it that way but there was no reason for it there was peace with new york.
the episode was really made in america with the close up of the ford rolling over phil's head, tony singing the rocky theme song to aj, aj wanting to join army, and them going to dinner at a normal dinner instead of a fancy itailin place.
more than anything i am just sad the show is over i think it was the best drama of our lifetimes. it always left you hanging and wanting more right up untill the end, and that is what makes a show great.

also mark it down there will be no movie!

Rumors of a movie are rampant of course. Van Zandt was quoted as having said that it could be a prequel as opposed to any further continuation of the current story line.

I haven't seen the final episode yet.....they ruined the ending on the radio for me this morning, but I am definately hitting up the On Demand when I get home ;)

....but they do need to the a prequel series.

....Since they were always discussing the 'old days' in the show it would be cool to see a story built around that.

......it would be cool to see Uncle and Papa Soprano in their prime during the old days of gangsters....

....still waiting for my season final for The Tudors...

...ha ha.....I need something new to watch now...

Hey if you guys noticed paulie walnutts hated the cat. Paulie also hated Christopher, theres is word that Christopher was reancarnated in this cat thats why you see the love of tony towards the cat and the cat stared at christophers pic the whole time.

Also I bet you guys didnt notice who all the characters where at the end in the Diner. You had 3 guys that wanted revenge on tony for something he did to them or a family member in other episodes. You had the truck driver, the guy that walked up to use the restroom and these two black guys. You can see who these characters are at the end in the credits.

    Love the ending. Great director.

i might be missing something but what did tony do those people? are you sure those are poeple who he did something to or just normal people from all walks of life eating at a diner? also if they are how did they all just happen to find tony at a hole in the wall diner that only they knew they were going to on a last minute decision?

I have it tivo and the guy walking to the restroom in the credits is " Man in members only jacket" and the two black guys are listed as ""African American guy 1 and 2 and the trucker is listed as " truck driver in resturant" So I don't get the clues as to who they where.
I saw a post where someone said the guy in the members only jacket ie guy at counter who walked into bathroom was Phil's nephew and was listed in the credits as such but that is not the case. Sounds like a urban legend a brewing.

I thought the ending was appropriate. The show is all about how you never know what life is going to throw at you...and leaving the ending blank was perfect. Whether Tony got some soggy french fries or a bullet in the head - it doesn't matter - you never know whats coming around the corner so you should take every moment that you can. That was touched on in the episode too when Tony was in his backyard raking leaves, just starting at the sky and trees and taking it all in. Just my .02

ok wow. i just saw this thred. and if any of you are pissed you have every right to be. i have given hundreds of evenings to that show for what them to leave me hanging on the final episode. the only logical thing i can think of is they didnt want to end it. and basiccaly just saying that life keeps going on. but they could of at least just had a closeing were tony was looking at a lot of pics thinking about the past then roll the credits.

    Don't Stop Believin'
    - Journey

    Just a small town girl
    Living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
    Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train going anywhere

A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

    {Refrain}
Strangers, waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
    Hiding somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill
    Everybody wants a thrill
Paying anything to roll the dice
    Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
    Oh the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

    {Refrain}

    Don't stop believing
    Hold on to that feeling
    Streetlight people

Re: Any Soprano watchers out there.....
yeah i did a quick imdb search on those people in the dinner and i could not find them because they were just extras or were never in sopranos before. some people just want to look to deep into those people in the diner, like i said they were just random people from all different walks of life. so until i have proof from david chase that tony is dead he will always live on.

in the words of journey "the movie never ends it goes on and on and on" just like the sopranos we just dont get to watch them anymore!
