Bless Her Heart!

Re: Bless Her Heart!
Good! If it were any one of us... you know we would be in jail for a lot longer then her. Also we would have never gotten out because of an "illness" related to stress. She too is a person and has to follow rules and laws.

Re: Bless Her Heart!
I hope they make her serve the whole 45 days now..

Just puts a smile on my face...=)

Re: Bless Her Heart!
Lol... Oh Paris... I think she should serve the whole 45 day period as well, and the sheriff that released her without the judges approval should be questioned as well. I wonder how much he was paid *ponders*

Re: Bless Her Heart!
I love the crying Paris pictures..Makes me giddy like a schoolgirl...

Re: Bless Her Heart!
I used to watch The Simple Life on occasion with the hopes that she might get beat-up, or have an incident with a farm vehicle or something  . She probably has more adoring fans than ever after this, but it still makes me smile :D .

Re: Bless Her Heart!
I think it's wonderful to finally have a judge unable to be bought, unimpressed with celebrity and willing to apply the law fairly no matter what level of society one is from. This young woman has flaunted the law far too many times, blaming and firing an employee at one point (and later quietly rehiring him after he took the heat for her publically).
The only thing I feel at all sorry for really is that these parents have two beautiful daughters and have obviously allowed their money and social standing to warp these young women. This is likely one of the first times in her life that Paris has had someone say "no more!", set a limit and punishment and then stick to it. Her mother yelling in court about "all the money they spent" is just terrible. How about a little concern about your daughter and the life lessons you apparently forgot to teach! I think the Hilton parents should be very ashamed of themselves!
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
While I agree that Paris needs to serve her sentence, and the sheriff was wrong to cut her loose, I don't agree that anyone else would have gotten more time. She was sentenced to 45 days on a simple probation violation...driving with a suspended license. Most people would get maybe 2 weeks for that, the judge was making an example of Paris.
I don't care who she is, no one deserves to be made into an example by a judge with an agenda.
Other than that, I don't really care.

I agree with you there Sarah (though I believe it was more than on incident of being caught driving while under suspension). Paris needs to learn that her status and money don't buy her out of things but neither should they give her a harsher sentence than is normal in these sorts of cases.

I agree that no one should be made an example of by a judge or a District Attorney with an agenda. Though they should have taken her in the -first- time she was caught driving without a license during her probation, I agree that the 45 days was an attempt to make her an example.
One of my brother's friends, Mitchell is in jail--for two years and a day--for selling a single joint's worth of pot to a cop (in order to get cash for a burrito). He can't get parole, because the cops set up a sting in a "school zone" (though the "school" was a private Christian pre-school that wasn't even in session at the time)--he's got a minimum of 2 years, no getting out early. An 18-year-old kid. He wasn't a drug dealer, he was a hungry pothead.
Another friend of my brother's caught in the same sting, Kyle, was the first to go to trial, and because the jury knew that the minimum would be two years' time--he was found not guilty. This kid -is- a dealer, was arrested a year later and is now in jail (for possession of alcohol as a minor, for a hit of acid, drug paraphenalia, mushrooms and pot with intent to sell)--and he will probably be out of jail before Mitchell (the other kid), because he can get "good behavior".
Stuff like this pisses me off. Because the DA saw what happened with Kyle's trial, he decided to forbid Mitchell's attorney from telling the jury about the consequences of a guilty verdict--and the two years was mandatory. Mitchell, a pothead kid, got made an example of because the DA was angry that he didn't get Kyle, a real dealer.
And that's my rant :)
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
Wow, Kim, that is a really sad story :(
I hate almost all anti-drug laws, but that's an entirely different thread/rant.
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
How sad is it that a jury can be asked to sit in judgement on any crime, major or minor, and be uniformed on what the consequences of their verdict will be when it comes to the sentencing stage. I think that is just wrong.
As a parent of school age kids though, I will say I do support laws that protect school zones from any drug dealing, at any level. I have seen the dealers, big and small, that stay just inches outside our school zones in Toledo while they push their junk on kids, and I'm talking elementary age kids here. Whether school is in or out, whether it's a big school or a small private one, some safe zone does need to be enforced for the kids.

She was caught driving with a suspended license twice, and I'm almost 100% positive that she was under the influence the second time that she was stopped. I don't care who you are, or how much money you have, driving drunk is completely unacceptable to me. I've seen the results of drunk driving, and I am completely against it, no matter how much you have drank. There are enough fatalities in car wrecks with sober drivers, so please don't add drinking and driving into the mix.
=Edit= It sounds like she failed a sobriety test the first time, instead of the second. If anyone here in Oklahoma had been found drunk driving, you'd be sitting in jail within 2 hours.

From the greatest site ever, www.thesuperficial.com
TMZ reports that instead of being transported to the Century Regional Detention Facility, Paris Hilton will spend the weekend in the medical ward of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility while her lawyers file an appeal. Her lawyers are filing a writ of habeas corpus, claiming her body is being held illegally. Which is about the only way anybody would ever want to hold her body. Zing!
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
I have no sympathy for anyone who deals in illegal drugs in any manner. I have two sons and 9 grandchildren. They better be glad I'm not a judge. And as for Paris. They should throw the book at her, she has walked away too many times with others left to pick up the pieces.:2cent:

I don't have time to search out a news site with the complete history, so Wiki will have to do for now. If anyone finds something different, post away!
According to her Wiki:
Paris was arrested and charged with DUI in Sept 2006. She pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge, her license was suspended, and she was put on probation for 36 months. In Feb 2007, she was caught speeding, with no headlights, with a suspended license. She was charged with those offenses along with failure to enroll in a court ordered alcohol education program.
I've also seen first-hand the effect of drunk driving. I am in no way advocating driving under the influence of anything. But the law should be applied equally to everyone. Making an example out of someone simply because she is a celebrity is wrong, period.
I think the news coverage is overblown. My local news actually showed live footage of Paris being driven to court this morning. I just think there are better things to spend my time worrying about. Like shoes.

Re: Bless Her Heart!
My husband kind of feels sorry for her...whatever, he can think she got the short end of the stick if he wants.
Personally, I have little pitty for her. She didn't know that it was against the law to drive on a suspended liscence? Yeah, RIGHT!
If you're drunk, stay out of the driver's seat; if you don't have a liscence or it's suspended, stay out of the driver's seat; but if you get busted and land your butt in jail, make sure to ALWAYS tell your lawyer that you're about to have a nervous breakdown so he can claim you have some medical condition that jail will make worse but driving while drunk will make better! If she's that messed up then she needs a shrink, not a drink. :taz:
OK, my rant is done. :D
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
I agree with Kim on this one, i think the law/government has serious issue's with the way they do things. If that where to be me/you we would not get 2nd or 3rd chance's like Paris did, and we sure would get more then 45 days *23 on good behavior* it's just sad the way things work. *rant off*

Re: Bless Her Heart!
it kind of pisses me off when i see people on tv saying "if she wasn't paris hilton...." it's bull. my bf is currently facing the same charges (yet to be sentenced) and is sure to do jail time. i think that the judge had every right to punish her as he did. EVERYBODY around here drives home from the bar. very rarely do i see a designated driver. nowhere near enough of them get caught. maybe if the media wasn't playing "poor paris" people would see that their actions DO have consequences and they CAN get jail time.
but, mostly, i'm just sick of seeing her face everywhere i look.

Re: Bless Her Heart!
:soapbx:
She is getting what she deserves...
I live in the area of where she is, and I have NO sympathy for anyone who will endanger my life or the lives of others by driving under the influence.
I am very glad she is going back to jail. Her being a over hyped privledged socialite should not have any bearing on her sentance, but it does make me feel good that she is getting what she deserves.
AND! For the record, I highly doubt that she has any worthwhile medical problems that should have ever allowed her to get out of jail the first time.
People in jail have HIV and Cancer and are not allowed out for home arrest..

That's the truth!
I don't feel one bit sorry for her either. I'm sick and tired of celebrities getting "special treatment" just because they have money and a publisist. I'm sick and tired of famous people being portrayed and treated like they are BETTER than everyone else and deserve to be treated like gods.
The average nobody sure as heck would not be able to get away with some lame excuse about panic attacks and get let out on house arrest.

AMEN!!! that's exactly my point, just becuase I make a Movie and have millions of dollars I get a slap on the wrist. But.... If I work for a living I get time in prison and or a fine. It's really nice isn't it?

Re: Bless Her Heart!
Paris is a big girl she will get over it and if she doesn't, oh well, welcome to the real world!
Aside from her going to jail what has she ever done to warrant all this public attention. It's not like she is a big star or anything. Just a spoiled rich kid brat.

I think 45 days is a fair sentence. I don't see how she is being made an example of. Unless the laws in Cali are way different then the laws here in Va.
It's not a 45 day sentence just for driving on a suspension, it is also for violation of probation and failure to report to her alcohol classes.
Heck she got a break when busted for DUI and had it dropped to a reckless charge the first time. This second time she pretty much was thumbing her nose at the courts, laws and probation. She won't do the full 45 days ( no one would ) you get time off ie every two days served you get a day off or whatever Cali's deal is. ( different in every state.)

Actually, the judge himself said he was making an example of her. I'm not arguing whether the 45 days is fair or not, it's just been said in several news stories I've watched that it's not a standard sentence and that most people in the same area would get far less than that. Obviously it's within the legal limits, or the lawyers would be screaming about it.
And whether it's a fair sentence or not, I still say she should have to serve it out. No normal person would be let out without due process, so she should have to suck it up like anyone else.
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
Just so you guys know, it hasn't really been discussed on here but other people were complaining how shes getting 23 days good time cuz shes Paris. Thats not true Everyone gets good time, if their good Someone i know got their Second DUI and They Got a 30 days sentence 10 days in Jail 10 days house arrest and the last 10 days were taken off for good time. Just to clear that up
That being said i think her 45 day sentence was a little harsh but i do agree she shouldnt have been let out early that is special treatment

The media feeds the public their trash stories and people bite. Folks just can't get enough whether they love her or hate her. Everybody wants to know what's going to happen next and as long as that is the order of the day we will continue to see her picture everywhere. People love their drama.

Like was said she just needs to suck it up. 45 days is not that big of a deal especially when she is really only going to do 23.
I would bet some poor youngin from Watts would have gotten more than 45 days.

I disagree with this, but that's really ok. I'm glad we can both agree that Paris just needs to get it over with. There's no way you'd catch me crying in the back of a police car knowing I had broken the law! lol

I understand what your getting at, but this happens for almost every actor, pro athlete, anyone with money out there. Not everyone that has to go out and earn a living gets let off with an easy sentence. I also feel no matter who you are if you drink and drive there should be a set time to do in jail, for example If I get caught speeding I pay the ticket get the points etc, same should go for actors actresses etc. but it doesnt work that way. Just my opinion though.
Also 45 days for a DUI I think it should be more, what if she injured or killed someone would you still feel the same way?

No it was their second DUI and i totally agree that Drinking and Driving is wrong and they probably should have gotten more time, They also had to pay a bunch of fines, take classes do a chemical Evaluation and be on probabtion, but the jail time was short. Im just saying that Paris's time the judge probably gave her the harshest sentence he could with no house arrest time or comm service and i think he did that to make an example out of her. Also people are angry about the "good time" shes getting but also thats not special treatment. She Does deseved to be punished but she should'nt be punished in a way just to make everybody else happy. I do agree that she shouldn't have been let5 out of jail thats B.S.

Re: Bless Her Heart!
A sherif in AZ that Runs "Tent City" offered to take her free of charge from LA county.
Tent City is a place in AZ that is a Jail. All inmates are given the minum requirments and sleep outside in tents year round. Men are dressed in Pink from head to toe and females are given grey. They work from the time they get up to when they go to bed.
LA turned down Tent City offers.
I feell that it would have been a fitting place for her. She keeps fugeing up she needs to do the time.
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
LOL Tent City is a great place... erm, from the outside that is. :D
I think every jail in the US should be like that, maybe then people would think twice before doing stupid things and landing their butts in jail a million times.
-
Re: Bless Her Heart!
yeah I would have to agree. She also wouldnt have been seperated from the general populas. (something I feel she deserves, she screwed up so she needs to have the full jail experance no light treatment)
you know the movie I liked her best in? House of Wax. She dies.
Also I doubt that she got out for "mental problems" This unexplaned illness seems a little more ... well like the big "A". she is so thin and sickly looking, she is a poster child for aids.
