    You are so lucky!

I think I have 2 more years to go!

and Jeff is buying a new truck this fall/winter so I will have a few more years after that!

but by the time (or soon after) my daughter Sara starts College we will have them paid off!

    lol.

Congrats Robin! That must bring a real sense of accomplishment plus it's nice to free up those monthly funds. :)

This was a LONG payment plan (six years) because when I got the car (previous one was totaled in an accident), it was 2001, and my job was going through major layoffs, so I needed the smallest payments possible in case I lost my job (which I did about six months after getting the car). Was out of work for an entire year after 9/11.

I thought I'd never get it paid off! LOL

congrats!!! I haven't had a car payment in about 2 years and I love it!
I'll keep my car until I can't even push it anymore before I start paying for a new one

I would assume that no longer having a car payment feels pretty sweet! I doubt I'll ever find out though. I will most likely never be with out a car payment. I don't keep my cars long enuff.

I'm the same way. I think once Marc gets older (read less messy and destructive), I might start leasing. I've noticed that every two years, I just get tired of whatever I'm driving and want something new and different. I'm buried so deep under my SUV right now that I have no choice but to keep it until it's paid off :(

Congrats, Robin! Jeff's car will be paid off in a few months, I'm very excited about that.

I would take the no car payments and drive your car until its dead. LOL We had finally paid off Amy's old car and I let her talk me into getting a new one. Now we both wish we would've just kept the other car and saved the money. We are on a mission to pay this car off now and won't get rid of it until the engine blows up or something. ;)

I hear ya! I've been trying to sell my trailblazer for awhile now. I don't think I'll ever buy an American made car again. Its resale value doesn't even begin to compare against my old Honda and Subaru. Its basically worth what I owe and I even put a heap of cash down when i bought the tb.

Plus with the gas prices...no one was a gas guzzler.

Yeah, I think its more the gas guzzler part than the American made part. Most american made cars are selling well, but the trucks, suv and etc are a dime a dozen. I live in a small town and you can drive out in the rural areas and see trucks, suburbans, yukons etc sitting out in front yards with for sale signs in them everywhere. Nobody wants to fill a 30 gallon tank for $3 + a gallon.

I would not mind filling a 30 gallon tank, but i would rather go without the 12 mpg. Which ironically is about all I get in my truck.

Welcome to the club Robin! I make my last payment this month (6 months in advance)

Well, the big tank and poor gas mileage go hand-n-hand. ;)

Its really just my personal opinion. This is my first American made car/truck. In the past I've always put money down, when it came time to sell them I'd almost always get back what I put down.

Not the trailblazer though. I put cash down, and this time its worth what I owe. No extra money for me for another down payment.

That's what makes the world go round. ;) We all have our opinions, just like I can't stand any car with the name "Dodge" on it. I've had alot of bad experiences with them, while others swear on them. If we all agreed it would take all the fun out of life. :)

Yeah, mine is worth far less than what I actually owe, now. I doubt I will ever buy a new vehicle again, they just aren't worth it!

I'll never buy a new car - unless I win the lottery. The depreciation when you drive it off the lot isn't worth it to me. I'd much rather buy a year old previous lease car - still in great shape and saves you thousands of dollars! :D

Car payments? What are those? :P I try not to make payments on anything. Any car I bought/buy was/will be in cash.

Wicked good advice Big C! I still owe about $9,000 on my truck. I'll try to drive it until it dies but the odds are, I'll give in to my impulses and roll the rest into a new suv or Wrangler.
