Re: My first Tegu....
You're getting quite the diverse collection bro! B&W Tegus are really sweet lizards....work with it a lot and you'll have a puppy dog.
Congrats.

Re: My first Tegu....
Thanks a lot, yeah I like a diverse collection other wise I think I'd get bored...dunno though?
Yeah she comes from a great guy who feeds them an awesome varied diet and she is one of the tamest he has.
Will be doing a lot of work with her.
Thanks Jason.

Yeah I was going to go with Rick but couldn't wait :) because by August some of them are already going into hibernation.

Mike
I wanted to get one from Rick also but my wife bought one locally first. We're going to drive up and talk to Rick next month. And go to NERD!!!!
From what I've read at theTegu.com forums, most don't hibernate. You need a change in day length and temps for them to know it's time to hibernate. I guess we'll find out in August!

For some reason I can't edit my last post.
I'm sure you've already done plenty of reading in theTegu.com Mike (BWTeguNewb).

Re: My first Tegu....
Thanks! I will have more pictures on the way, along with the enclosure she is getting made for her! A huge 8x3x30" Boamaster.
You can see in the picture how pooped she is from her trip.

Re: My first Tegu....
AWESOME!!!!! are these guys agressive at all? and how big do they average, I'm assuming pretty big based on that cage size mentioned above.
-
Re: My first Tegu....
Argentine Black & White Tegu may reach the ultimate length of upto 4.25 feet for adult males, less for females.
She is not aggresive at all, well at least today she wasn't. Some tegus can be yes, but this is the "tamest" species of Tegus. I'm hoping to "tame" her down lots with one on one work.
Here is some good reading and videos (not mine) showing how tame they can be:

^ Go to taming the Beast. This man is also a great breeder.

Enjoy!

Re: My first Tegu....
Wow he is awesome looking congrats. It will be cool if you get him tame enough that he will come up to you like he is a dog haha those videos were great. Thanks for the links.

Re: My first Tegu....
Thanks you guys!
No problem on the links, these guys are just awesome. She/he will be an impressive adult, I couldn't imagine keeping an aggresive tegu.
Will keep you guys updated!

Re: My first Tegu....
Man, after reading over this thread, I've remembered how much I'd love to get one. :D I sure don't have enough room for an 8' cage.... could a smaller cage be used? Like maybe 4ft long?

I know some people that use a 6x3x3 for a single tegu but most of them also allow their tegu to free roam, meaning there is a little door on the cage they can go in and out of whenever they feel the need.
If you are looking for a tegu that doesn't get as big and requires a smaller enclosure I would suggest a Blue Tegu. Blue Tegu's has reach an overall length of about 3 ½ feet. The Blue Tegu is the smallest of the Tegu family.
They require a 6x3x3 cage, and can live comfortably in that.

Ron is probably one of the best Blue Tegu breeders there is and has discovered some awesome lookins morphs.

Re: My first Tegu....
Looks great!!! I can't wait for ours to get that big (and bigger!)!!!
Why haven't you posted about him on theTegu.com??
It's funny you show him in the Tegu forum on Ball-Pythons.net. I frequent the Snake section of BeardedDragon.com, but don't check the rest of the site much anymore.
