Can Someone give me an Opinion on this?

Okay, So Yesterday I am skimming through craigslist as usual for Reptiles just to see whats out there.

Well I come across this ad

"Python Seeks rescue"

I open it and there is a pic of a Albino and Pie Bald. Asking for rescue.

Now I know I have seen this pic somewhere but I can't be sure, so I email them tell them I am interested.

I get an email back today stating this...

"well i am asking 500 for each including shipping handling and delivery charges from HAMBURG were she will be coming from..were are you located at?get back to me leds proceed.thanks"

I reply with this
"I wouldn't say $500 is a rescue. Usually a rescue you surrender. I would like to see more pictures of the actual animal if you have some. Also do you have a website?"

Now I am not looking for free animals, but if ones in need of rescue I am not going to pay that much money to rescue it.


So is this a scam or what, I think it is. I would like to warn my local reptile group about it. But in case it is real I don't want to start yelling out Scam.

people usually flag those ads and then post another ad warning viewers...

post the topic as "re: python seeks rescue"

and then in your post, talk about how they're asking $500 bucks, it's a scam, yada yada yada...

Looks like the Survey results are in lol. I figured it was a scam, I will post there. A lot of local people emailed them I guess, really interested :eek: I will post so they don't fall for it.

Got another reply from the person. I still don't know what the deal is, sure does seem like they are in a hurry to ship. i still haven't gotten a name from them.

well i am not a breeder.led me tell you a little bit about my self i was working at the us embassy in SEATTLE WA and have just been recently transfered to work in the us embassy in HAMBURG and here in Germany i have very long hours of work and i have know time to look after her so that is the reason why i need to send her back to the states.well to really prove that i am from Seattle here is my phone number that i was using in Seattle you can call it they will tell you that i am not around that you should live a voice mail the number was 206 337 1382
as if that is not enough i cant also give her out here because people used snakes for selfish reasons like snake fight and many others and i cant give mine out to cannibals.see some of her pictures below.if all is ok then get back to me led proceed with the shipping.

I thought there were Shows in Hamburg anyway? Or is this not the same location the Shows are held?
Maybe I should ask them were to send the money and see what they say then.

There are definitely shows in Hamburg, PA but I don't know about Hamburg, Germany.

I knew about the ones in PA but I heard there was one in Germany too. Main reason being I have friends that have told me about them who live there but they could be full of it for all I know. Who knows though. I am gonna ask them how they want to go about their "transaction" oh and when I ask them shouldn't their be some paperwork for shipping internationally? If so what is it, cites?

well all the papers will be made here in our office that is in the American embassy here so you will need to get back to me with all your full details that is your full names,house address,name of nearest air port and contact number with all this details i will arrange all the papers tomorrow and if every thing goes well i will have her ship to you on Thursday first available flight to your location.get back to me asap

Yup, that was the pic in the original ad. I just found it on google too. The one at the very bottom and then the pics of the animal in the email.

And those are 3 different BP, and he did not even notice it :8:

Ask him for new pictures with a paper that says: I am not a scammer, I actually have the animals as you can see.

I just asked him to provide me with a picture of the animal placed on todays newspaper with the date clearly visible.

Heres the last email I recieved. I love wasting scammers time. :D

Scam and a half!!!!

Since I asked for the pic of the snake on the news paper and called him out of the Breeders stock photos I have not heard back.

Too bad there are people out there like this. It really bothers me that people get taken by scammers. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do.

Tell them you are local and can pick them up, that usually shows you something if they don't respond

Do not under any circumstances march into a U.S. embassy in germany demanding your balls in a bag. Showing them pictures may not help.

That is something you DO NOT want to attempt.We all know its a scammer so it should end there ;) .

Yeah thats no good, we don't want to hear about some Person on the news that Marched into a U.S. Embassy in Germany demanding that someone give him his balls.

I am sure they would hand you much more than that, and it probably wouldn't be on a silver platter or in a snake bag.

Have fun in Germany though, takes lots of pics..


Its pretty much ended now, I called him out on the breeders pics and haven't heard back yet. I doubt I will, and if I do I could always refer him to the breeder in which he stole the pics from. I am sure he'd love to buy his own snakes :D
