    Help: Dry Eyes
Normally, I'm really great about keeping up with the kids, making sure they're all nice and clean, have perfect skin, etc. That's never been a problem. I just have one snake that's been a bit of a...problem.

My het.albino male, Hadrian. All of the snakes in my bedroom have the same amount of humidity, get treated the same, etc, but he's the only one who's got dry eyes. The humidity's ranging from 55-60% all of the time, and it'll probably chill at 60% when I get my new rack. Are het.albinos prone to really dry eyes or is there something that I'm doing wrong? I'll even spray in his tank so that the humidity hits 70% on occasion, and I've given him baths and done everything I'm supposed to. Nothing's changed. Help?!

I've never heard of "dry eyes" on a snake. Do you mean he has retained eye caps after every shed?

I don't believe they're retained. He shed his eyecaps the last time he was able to shed. They could be retained eyecaps, but that's so...weird.

So what, exactly, do you mean by dry eyes? How do they look dry?

Oh my Goodness. I feel like a twirp. They look very similar to retained eyecaps. I just...they're a little...sunken in in the middles.

that usually happens when humidity is too low.

but you said your humidity is good so what else could be the cause?

    stress??

Which is weird, because I try not to handle him very much. He was never really...friendly after I got him set-up, and now, he's gotten used to me, but I still want to give him more of his space.

if they look dry and kinda dimpled then it is more than likely retained eye caps and you probably just didn't notice.

one of my bp's had retained eye caps. I bumped his humidity up and after the next shed his eyes were perfect.

well it may or may not be retained eye caps but it should clear up by the next shed.

    pictures would help a little.

I'm betting once I get him into the new rack system, he'll be all bouncy and budle of joyness, and those eyes'll clear right up.

Do they look like creases on the eye? I'd hate to call it "normal," but I have one where the creases just come and go randomly from shed to shed, and she has the same environment/care as a bunch of others that do not have this problem.

So long as she's shedding her eyecaps (make sure by looking at the actual shed skin when it happens), its really nothing to worry about.
