Stolen NERD snakes?
I just saw this article in the news section. Does anyone know what snakes were stolen? Obviously not the brightest crooks to try and sell them on the 'net. Hopefully they'll get some jail time... :taz:

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
I always wonder what theives are thinking when they steal easily identifiable snakes, then post them online. How many pastels or spiders etc. were passed over for the "genetically unique" animals?

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
well i guess if your dumb enough to take them then your dumb enough to sell them online lol. you would think they would just keep them and breed them... not to give anyone any ideas :P

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
It states there at the end of the article that neither snake has been recovered? What happened to them? Anyone know which snakes they were? Some people are really morons.

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
Stealing anything period is just a horrible thing to do... and seems pretty unnecessary to do so from your employer... From what experiences I've had, once you ork somewhere a certain amount of time and make a good relationship with them, they will help you to acquire something you want that they supply.

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
I pray that wherever these snakes are, somebody is caring for them properly. What a sad and horrible situation for the snakes and for Kevin and Kara to have had an employee do this to them. :(

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
You can read the original news story here, as it's become a bit convoluted along the way (not to mention that reporters often get things wrong the first time around).
Of course, that's just the "Cliff's Notes" version... It actually involves 4 ex-employees, not 2. Most of it had to do with our retail store rather than the breeding facility, but it still sucks. At least we have a truly kick-a$$ investigator & a TON of solid evidence (i.e. pictures of the snakes they took that they were dumb enough to post on our own forums), so we'll see where everything ends up!

Ouch ... Sorry Kara and Kevin! It adds insult to injury when someone you trust stabs you in the back like that...
I hope it wasn't Vivid!

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
Granite-backed (het "Anthrax") retics...no ball pythons involved. We had some retics at our old facility that this guy was looking after, and he decided to help himself to a couple (in addition to quite a bit of stuff from the retail store). Long story, big headache, dumb thief.

Thanks for the other link Kara. I really hope you guys can get those snakes back in the end, and that they are still healthy. Be sure to post any updates on the story as they arise.

Wow, that takes some cajones and obviously not a lot of brains. I'm glad your investigator was able to get everyone involved. Unfortunately it seems like thefts and scams in this industry don't get the attention they deserve, so it's nice to hear when justice is served in a situation like this.
Still, I'm sorry you and Kevin had to put up with this.

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
They steal from you then post pics of your snakes on your own forum? Good lord but that's as dumb as dirt (bit insulting to dirt really). Glad they were dumb enough though to get caught and I hope they get the book thrown at them!

Re: Stolen NERD snakes?
Thats so sad. People you trusted and thought of as friends stabbing you in the back like that. Thats really got to hurt. I'm sorry.
