    Houston Zoo Position update!
For those who may have missed the other thread i started, I applied for a position at the houston zoo as a reptile keeper. I had a phone interview about a month ago and was told at that point i was one of the final candidates. So after several weeks of waiting, phone calles and emails they called me today with their decision. The guy said it came down to me and this other guy (who was their first choice), their said that if the guy's background check didn't check out, or if he rejected the position it would have been offered to me. So no movin to Houston for me, too bad. The guy did say he was going to keep my resume since they turn over people everyonce in a while. *Sigh* o well i will have to find something around here i guess.

I hope it works out for you in the long run. Next summer I'm hoping to get an internship there so it would be pretty awesome if I knew a BP.net member there. lol

Yea i'm not really too bummed out about it, it took them so long to get back to me so i sorta figured I was out of luck anyways. Though i was happy to hear i was one of the final two. Thanks chris, we'll have to see what that something is;) .

    Hi Mike,

I just wanted to point out that with the number of people who apply for every zoo job you should really be congratulated in reaching the last two in the first place.

Saying that I still hope you get a call soon from them offering you your dream job with your dream wage +$10.

i applied then waited nearly 2 months to hear back that i was one of the final candidates and had a phone interview then waited about another month to hear that i was the #2 man. Make sure on your resume you stress your experience working with people/the public and the reptiles/animals. Remember in a zoo's mind the public are the life line, they pay for everything, keep the place running, and pay your salary. I went onto the website and read every page and every program they have. They will ask you some regular inteview questions, like what are your strongest atributes, etc, then they will also ask like what is your favorite taxon, how would you set up a multi species enclosure etc etc. Thanks for the good luck and same to you, if i can help prep you PM me
