I personally don't love it. So much better can be done with both those morphs.

I'm with you Jamie its ok but not really as out standing as say a Axanthic killer bee or something
-
Re: mojave x spider?
I will agree with you both, i thought that it would look so much cooler with the flames and the high white sides, and yellower pattern

Re: mojave x spider?
Albino mojave should be interesting
-
Re: mojave x spider?
I used to have the same feeling as Jamie and Ed until I saw one in person. I don't think I have seen a pic that does them any justice. I do however hav plans of making one this season. So maybe I can try out my photo skills on one next year.
p.s. Jake, I don't know about Albino Mojave, but the Caramel Albino Mojave is to die for.

Tim I agree with you there 100% about the spider mojave.I'm also kicking myself for NOT doing that cross this year.I put a cinny and a pastel to one of my adult spiders instead.
Not that I regret it but the spider mojave is definitely one I WILL be doing next season :D
Albey see now that is a MUCH better pic of there spider mojave. The first pic I saw of it did not impress me but that's a GOOD pic of it.

Re: mojave x spider?

That is definitely a much better picture than any other I've seen. Thanks for posting it Albey!

Re: mojave x spider?
I did not know where that pic was, but that is the best pic I have seen. I still think they look better in person.
Petboy, I have never seen a pic of the Caramel Albino Mojave on the inernet, but it is in VPI's new "Pythons of the World Vol. II" book.

Re: mojave x spider?
Mike just something I wanted to put out there. The snake in the picture above is the same snake that was posted at the beginning of the thread crawling out of the egg. Age does help some ball pythons, and the picture quality is much better.
-
Re: mojave x spider?
I agree the pic quallity is much better which has dramatically changed my opinion. I never saw one before those first few pics. and seeing that animal made my jaw drop. (sorry for all the back and forth mind changing).

Re: mojave x spider?
I understand the mind changing. I will tell you that one of the things that turned me off about that animal is the hatching environment of the first one ever hatched (the one in the pic by the way). I watched that snake hatch in a deli cup on a vendor table at the Daytona show in 2004. I thought it was bad taste, but a beautiful snake.

Re: mojave x spider?
I was surfing around and found out that the Sutherlands have a female for sale.

Tim, that pic of the baby caramel albino mojave is amazing! :tongue2:
Credits under the pic name the Snake Keeper (SK) - I would sure like to see later pics.

Re: mojave x spider?
Hey Tim and Alice I spoke to Tracy about the Caramel Mojave and she said that it was a ghost mojave not a Caramel. I called her about it after seeing the picture. The snake does look awesome though!

Re: mojave x spider?
Brock,
Thanks for the update. I was wondering why the project was so secretive, however, when credit was given to Dan and Collette, I figured that if anyone had done it, it was them.
-
Caramel Mojave
Ok, is there a caramel mojave or not?
It sounds like the pic in the book might have been mislabeled.
Is the link to the snake keeper site below talking about the spider mojave or a caramel mojave (I'm not finding one of those)?
I'm sure they had thought of it on their own but I told Colette years ago I thought caramel and mojave would make a cool combination. The closest I could come was trying to breed a 50% chance het caramel male to a pet store girl with mojave like characteristics but the pair didn't produce in 2002 or 2003. The girl did finally produce eggs out on a breeding loan for the first time this year but to a non caramel gene male and still about a month to go to hear what hatches to see if she might even be genetic. Sold my possible het caramel male so should take me another decade or two to get that project done lol. I want to see what it looks like much sooner.

Alice,
TSK produced the Caramel Mojave, so Cue can't take any updated pics of that one. Just wanted to point that out in case you didn't know who produced the snake.

Good point Tim. I was hoping that TSK might have provided other pics to VPI (for the book) that Cue could post.
-
Re: mojave x spider?
Cue, did you confirm the caramel mojave by looking in the book or talking to the Barkers? It's just that Brock reported talking to Tracy and it sounded like a confirmation that the picture in the book was mislabeled. Not a big deal either way, those things happen, it's just I really want to know if we have seen a caramel mojave yet or not. I know TSK has hypo mojaves and I've seen a really nice one. Maybe the caramel mojave is very similar or maybe not.
-

I talked to Tracy.
For further confirmation you could also contact SK :gj:
-
Re: mojave x spider?
Is this what everyone is talking about?? It is awesome!
http://ballpython.com/morph.php?morph=hypomoj
-
Re: mojave x spider?
That is very nice but not what I'm talking about anyway. Apperently there is a picture of a caramel mojave (not hypo mojave) in the Barker's book and Brock was mistaken that it was a mistake.
-
Re: mojave x spider?
I happened to get an e-mail from TSK today on another subject so I used the opportunity to ask about the "caramel mojave" in the VPI book. The answer I got was that it is actually a hypo mojave, so I'd say the scales are now tipped toward Brock being right and Cue being wrong on this subject. I don't think we have seen a caramel mojave yet.
-
Re: mojave x spider?
Thanks for clearing that up I can remember her telling me that it was a hypo mojave and not the caramel mojave. I called her the same week I got my book so hey! I figured Cue works there now he can go to the source. It is a awesome looking snake nonetheless!
