I gots money!
Well I just recieved my check that I get in May from my accident I had when I was four (and I have one more check coming next May), and I am sooooooo tempted to go out and get another snake. I've been wanting another snake for a while now and I finally have the money. If you had a ton of money, what kind of reptile would you spend it on?
-
Re: I gots money!
get something that is pretty to look at:P
-
Re: I gots money!
I was thinking of another corn. Perhaps get a baby. My coworker is going to help me build a snake rack soon. With the money I have now, I could easily buy a couple expensive racks, but I'd rather just build two. Save all that money for snakes to fill them with.
I do want something pretty to look at, but I'm not very experienced in snakes, so a ball, corn, or something similar would be good for me until I gain more experience with snakes.
-
Re: I gots money!
Ultimately you are the one who is going to have to decide. I really do not know much about corns...really nothing lol. Do they have the same care requirements? Guess it is going to come down to what really "pulls" at you. Best of luck in building your racks and filling them with beautiful snakes:D
-
Re: I gots money!
Corns have lower heat and humidity requirements than ball pythons. I only own one corn and my fiance has a king. I know it all comes down to my decision but people could post up some ideas. I'm open to just about any kind of snake as long as it does not have hard husbandry requirements. I can't produce a lot of humidity very well but heat is no issue in my house. Especially since this summer/fall I'll be moving into a townhome where I get free heat. Woot!

Re: I gots money!
i would get a pair of high end bp's..... But thats just me...
-
Re: I gots money!
I'd buy 2 lessers, 2 cinnies, 2 YB's, 2 axanthics, 2 clowns, 2 butters, 2 caramels and uuuuhhh.......
No serious, get what you like. If you like the corn you've got now, and really want more snakes, get some corns. I'm sure you'll love them all. I would have bought a bunch of balls, but that's what I like :rolleye2:
-
Re: I gots money!
As for ball pythons, when I get the racks made, I already know I want an axanthic and a piebald.
I do want more corns, but I'm not sure what kinds to get. Around here there is not much of a selection. Its mostly snows, normals, and okeetees. Every-so-often, you'll find something else.
-
Re: I gots money!
If you are going to get a corn....I saw a really really cool one at my local reptile shop. Like I said I don't know corns but this one was black and white striped and it was just totally amazing looking!
-
Re: I gots money!
look around online for corns and you can find all different varieties. find one you really like and go for it! :)
-
Re: I gots money!
I'm looking through different morphs right now.
I love...
Miami Phase
Ghost
Bloodred
Blizzard
Pewter
They are all so pretty and I'm so darned indecisive.

Re: I gots money!
I wouldn't buy any more snakes...I would buy a professional rack, or racks to keep the snakes in....You could also buy your girlfriend a new kitten....

Re: I gots money!
A trio of every recessive out there

Re: I gots money!
PARDON ME, MY BELOVED ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Friend,
Greetings to you in the most wonderful name of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. His richest blessings shall be upon you forever. I am Mrs.Kaith
Coleman,I am 51 years old from United State Of America ,i am deaf and
suffering from a long time cancer of the Lungs which also affected my
brain, from all indication my conditions is really deteriorating and it
is quite obvious that, according to my doctors they have advised me that i
may not live for the next two months, this is because the cancer stage has
gotten to a very bad stage. I was brought up from a motherless babies home, was married to my late husband for twenty years without a child. My husband died in a fatal motor accident. Before his death we were true Christians. Since his death I decided not to re-marry,I sold all my inherited belongings and deposited all the sum of $30million dollars with Bank in African.
Presently, this money is still with them and the management just wrote
me as the true owner to come forward to receive the money for keepin it so
long or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my
behalf since I can not come over because of my illness or they get it
confisticated.Presently, I'm with my laptop in a hospital where I have
been undergoing treatment for cancer of the lungs. I have since lost my
ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to
live. It is my last wish to see that this money is invested to any
organisation of your choice and distributed each year among the charity
organization, the poor and the motherless babies home where i come from.I want you God fearing, to also use this money to fund churches, orphanages and widows. I took this decision, before i rest in peace because my time will soon be up.As soon as I receive your reply with your name, address telephone number and bank information I shall give you the contact of the
bank.
I will also issue you a letter of authority that will prove you as the
new beneficiary of my fund. Please assure me that you will act accordingly
as I stated herein. I shall wait at your prayerful reply.
Thanking you in His precious name.
Yours in His Service,
Jake Wallace
Haha, but seriously, bloodred and amel bloodred corns are awesome. I like butters and certain ambers, too.
P.S. This was an email I got from a Nigerian scammer yesterday if you haven't already figured it out.

I could buy a professional rack, but I prefer to try building one of my own. My coworker is very skilled in building things and refuses to take payment for helping me build these racks because to her its fun. I'm giving her a project that she doesn't need to make space for.
As for buying a new kitten, they already have three other cats. Mojave was an accident beccause thier unspayed cat Cali got out of the house by accident when she was in heat. They adopted out three of her babies and kept Mojave. They really have no more room for more cats. And once we move in together, we will only be allowed to have two cats (pet policy in the townhomes) and I'm bringing both of my girls.
I definatly want to get more snakes. The racks my coworker and I will be building will allow for the addition of 8 more snakes. I won't fill all those tubs right off the bat though.

Dare I say it, Komodo.....With a huge plot of land in Florida!!!
I'd actually start a rescue for ALL kinds of herps. It would just warm my heart knowing that I did good for all the less than fortunate herps out there at giving them a second chance at a good life

Re: I gots money!
How much money are you talking about here? Anyway, lets just say that YOU were ME and I had a "ton" of money to play with I would do the following. I would go out and buy a couple Clowns and try my hand at breeding to see if can get a nice clutch. I can't imagine how rewarding that must be to make your own snakes wether it be piebald or normal.
Thats just me ;)
-
Re: I gots money!
Check out www.cornsnakes.com (my apologies if that link is against the rules). The first snake I got was an okeetee corn and my search for information and corn breeders started there much the same way my search for information and BP breeders began here.
In other words, ball-pythons.net:ball python enthusiasts as cornsnakes.com:cornsnake enthusiasts.
If I were you, which I'm not, and had money, which I don't, I would go with a BP. I've owned both and much prefer ball pythons. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

The amount on the check is around $17,500. I get another just like it a year from now and that will be my last one. I call that a ton of money because I am a lowly college student and that to us is money!
$5000 of that is going towards paying off my jeep so it can be put in my name, then my mom will pay me the $5000 back in monthly payments. $3000 goes toward a student loan and another $1000 goes towards next semester. Other than that, the money is mine to do whatever with. Lets say I plan on spending $500-$1000 on reptiles.

Did you make any definite decisions yet? Can't wait to see what you are getting:D
-
Re: I gots money!
Hey, regardless if your a college student or not that is quite a bit of "play" money for anyone.
I would be happy with a nice setup and a cool BP morph of some kind. I am going to be going back up to NERD to check out some pastels seeing that they are the only morphs in my price range right now. I would absolutely love a clown or a spider but that's out of the question right now. Have fun and think things through.

Re: I gots money!
Well I'm hoping to get something this summer. I'm still poking around looking at the different morphs. I held a black corn snake today. Kinda looked like this guy....
http://members.tripod.com/mikescorns...ino407x300.jpg
He was pretty and available right down the street. He's the biggest of all thier corns there. The corn is only $70, but I need to wait till the snake racks are built.
-
Re: I gots money!
that's a beautiful corn...what kind is it? Maybe the black and white stripe I saw at the reptile store was not a corn...now that I think about it it may have said king snake....it was striped like a candy cane but black and white

Re: I gots money!
I know that this is not a fun post, but I would take care of any debt before buying any snakes. Or set aside a portion of the money for fun, and use the lion's share for debt. I know that this does not sound fun, but I work in collections and always see people not prioritizing their debts.. I have been known to do this in the past also. ;)
But if you're not in debt, this is irrelevant. :) I know myself, I have to fight the urge to buy fun things with my bonus checks; they go toward my credit cards. Luckily nothing I have is in collections, but if it does go there, things can get very ugly, very fast.
-
Re: I gots money!
That being said, corns are really awesome snakes. I recently got one through a rescue situation, and I was reading up on their breeding amd clutch sizes; something I would like to get into, even though my fiance will probably hang me, lol!
-
Re: I gots money!
I have no debt. I have no credit cards or anything like that.
I love corns. They are by far my favorite since its the only kind of snake I have. My fiance has a king.

Re: I gots money!
Just remember, unless you want an 06 there is not much available at this point in time of this years hatchlings, they're just now all pipping out.
