Couple questions, how come some produce 1-3 eggs, and others, like yours is 13? What determines how many they throw?

Also, how the hell do you have room for even 10 more clutches? this your job or a hobby?!

    Grats again!

Thanks everyone. My neighbor was over and was asking if the second clutch of 6 were fertile while I was taken them from the mom. So I got the flashlight out and candled all 19 where fertile. So I did not last a day.LOL But anything can happen in 60 days. This is not my job just having some fun like everyone else.
Here is the second clutch of the day she was getting readt to lay the last egg in the picture.

Congrats, Thomas! 19 is just amazing to get from her. I hope she's ready for some nice rats to fill up all that empty space.

And I hear I thought I was doing good to get 5 from my female :-)

Sorry Snake eyes. I think has alot to do with size of female and reserve body fat. But I may not be the one to ask. This is just my second season breeding balls. My average this year is 6 per clutch. So far 12 clutches and 79 eggs. I just feed the crap out of them till Oct and hope for the best.

only your 2nd season for breeding? Where did you learn how to breed and preperation and all that? books, sites, here? I'm looking to get into in about 3 years and am really stoked about it and want to do all kinds of research about it but dont know where to start. if there is a book i can get that would help throw up the name so I can go look for it. Thanks and grats on them eggs!

Also, this forum was key for my successful year. I have used this site and that book for everything. This is my first year breeding and I have 6 females waiting to lay with one on the ground.

I guess i got lucky. The most important part is getting them fed good before its time to breed and get good weight on them. If not you will get alot of slugs. I believe i had three clutches with slugs so far. One had alot cause I bred her once or twice and pulled her from breeding because she was a little small. But she laid 6 or 7 slugs and one egg anyway.

Yep, but worth it. So is the Barker's book "Ball Pythons: The History, Natural History, Care, and Breeding", also called "Pythons of the World, Vol II: Ball Pythons". You can find it here: http://www.vpi.com/store
