Can anyone help me the biggest I have found is 10 qrt bags I'm looking for like a 50 lbs bag or something along these lines.

Re: Where can I get.....
I believe Harlan Teklad distributes these, you might be able to find a supplier through them. I also want to get it, but haven't had a chance to track it down yet either. :(

Re: Where can I get.....
yea every where I've looked either mass distributes it or don't have a price. I wonder if my local Co-Op would get it for me.

Re: Where can I get.....
contact the manufacturer? http://www.pjmurphy.net/

Re: Where can I get.....
Well after 15 phone calls I found a distributor in Slidel. LA they sell it for 7.99 for a 50lb bag.. :carrot: looks like I'm making a trip to Slidel.
you can contact the maker and they can put you in touch with the closest distributor to you.

Re: Where can I get.....
If you are already using Aspen and want something more pleasing...why not use cypress? It is cheap ($2.50 a big bag at Wally World) - holds humidity well, doesn't mold and offers the same advantages as Aspen...Just an idea;)

Re: Where can I get.....
I had considered that but Sani-Chips guarantees that their bedding is 100% aspen, and they bake and treat it to kill any bugs and so on. I just feel safer using something that is made for animal bedding. Thanks for the input though.

If it's the Harlan labeled Sani Chips it won't be a 50 lb bag, but a 2.5 cubic foot compressed, expands to about twice that.

Harlan is just a distributor for that company, why would they change the bag?

Thanks, the only problem is I would have to buy in bulk. So if I buy it from him the price will drastically go up. Right now the closest place that distributes it is Harlan Teklad in Madison, they have the 50 lb bags and give a good price for full pallet purchases. ;)

I know they sell compressed shredded aspen, but I don't think they sell compressed Sani-chips do they?

Re: Where can I get.....
I love Harlans Aspine bedding to...although it kills my allergies and is more of a pain in the butt to fill the tubs with (it spreads out more..atleast to me) being the sani chips were nice and easy to scoop out...still like both though...I use either one they have in stock at the feed store.

Re: Where can I get.....
Well, every time I've bought Sani Chips it was in a Harlan labeled bag and it was 2.5 cubic feet. Not even close to 50 lbs.
The PJMurphy branded bags might be different.
If it's 50 lbs for 7.99 thats a damn good price.
Okay I found some info at another site that sells it, Harlan Sani Chips 2.25 cubic feet 30-35 lbs.

It's cubed into small chunks instead of shredded into long slivers. ;)

Re: Where can I get.....

The sani-chips are just that...tiny chips...easy to scoop out and spread out nice...I just found that I used alot more sani-chips then aspen...the aspen is shredded and sort of fluffy...to me less aspen covers more ground then the sani chips. But again I buy either one depending on what the feed store has (they tend to carry less of the sani chips) and yeah 7 bucks for it is awesome!

Re: Where can I get.....
It's about 1/8" square chips, very thin. Not cubes.
I haven't tried it with my BP but with my corn snakes they seem to prefer shredded aspen as it tunnels easier. Sani chips just collapse when they tunnel in it. I use the Harlan finely shredded aspen.

Yeah that was what I was talking about to...the chips just pack down each has its pro's and con's...chips pack down and you use (atleast to me) more...aspen stays fluffy (and to me you use less) yet its dusty as all hell at first (atleast ours is)

Re: Where can I get.....
ED, let me know how you like those sani chips, I tried them for a short while and they seemed to get tracked everywhere and I was constantly running the shop vac. :)

PJ murphy make alot of products and they make a regular aspen chip that is not the Sani-chip size. I was able to buy sanichips at Harlan in Madison, Wisc. but you have to order $100.00 worth and its 6.99 a 2.5 cubic ft. bag. The good thing though is that they sell rodent feed so I got some of that too. They were great and will ship but its gonna cost you because its gotta come frieght truck. I live in Chicago so it was a 3 hour there and back ride so it wasnt that bad. make sure you check inside the bag before you buy you may just get the regular coarse aspen.

Re: Where can I get.....
I like the look of the sani chips. If I can get my hands on some, I might try them for the rats. Right now I use Pine. For the snakes, no way. Paper all the way...

Near Chicago I get Harlan rodent feed (2018) and aspen bedding and occasionally Sani Chips at the Du Page fairgrounds show. Next one is tomorrow. Prices are a little higher as they have to make their cut but at east you don't have to buy $100 worth and drive 6 hours.
Sani Chips were $10, Aspen bedding $13 and 2018 $13
