Hey, guys. im wondering what my snakes would be worth..

I have a 1.1 pair of unrelated graz pastels that absolutely beautiful
they were born last year, and eat like beasts.

also have 2 breed ready females. one seems to be a reduced pattern.

ill try to get some pics up, but what would a group like that sell for.

i know what i have invested... lol..

Without pictures and weights this is an impossible question. I have seen pastels go for $250 to over $1200+. It all depends on the quality of the pastels and how soon they could breed.


And the most important part...what is the buyer willing to pay. They are only worth what someone will give you. A high quality snake from a well known breeder (reputation can be worth more than the snake) will go for much more than an average snake from a relative nobody.

weights matter a lot. Sean is correct, it varies wildly.
Adult females probaly $200+ each, depends.
A pair of pastels that are subadults might be $2K+
But it depends. Maybe less, maybe more.

I think that's backwards. They are worth what the seller is willing to take for them. If the seller wants $5000 and doesn't want to let them go for any less than that...then that is what they are worth. Because it's worth it to the seller to keep them if he/she can't get $5000. Make sense?

If a seller is desperate to get rid of snakes, that makes them worth a lot less....but whatever that worth is, is determined only by the willingness of the seller to part with them.

I would agree with you Judy if it was a question that I was asking myself...(like how much are my snakes worth to me)...but since this person is asking others for their "worth"...he is clearly asking about a selling price as you point out WE cannot provide "worth" to him...only a market value. :)

A particular morph might only sell for $xx, but if it's part of a breeding project that you are really into, then it's worth more than that to you. A female that is a good eater for you might be worth more to you than another similar snake that is more picky. Worth to YOU will always be difficult to quantify for others.
I adore my pied carriers for what they will produce, and it really killed me to sell my visable pied. The selling price was much lower than her worth to me, but I HAD to have funds immediately.

Value or Worth are in the eyes of the owner - based on likes/dislikes, potential plans, etc.

Market Value or Selling Price - are in the eyes of the community at larger or purchaser - MV being what you typically see a similar snake listed at and SP what someone has paid for a similar snake in the past.

There is one more option and that is a buyer adding "value or worth" based on their needs. Here a person may be willing to pay higher then market value because of likes or potential plans.

how would i go about weighing them.
well.. more like, would wal-mart, or raido shack have a scale..

normals,
one is CB, and eats like a vacuum. also has a puppy dog personality.
she is just coming into breeding size, should be breedable this year

the other is a wild caught, she was free with the purchase of the other one.
she was eating fine for the previous owner, but has been really hard to feed for me.

she is a little bigger than the other female.

i wanted to breed pastels untill i could breed a super, then i was gonna sell alot of them anyways, breed supers and pastels.
pastels are falling tho, and school is making my snake keeping time tight.
so im consididiring selling them.

hell i figured all togethr theyd only be worth 800
but if i can get 1500-2000 id be super excited.

The whole price thing is determined by the quality of the Pastels, there are some butt ugly Pastels that you would have trouble giving away. on the flip side...Clean yellow Lemons will fetch you a pot of Gold! :eek:

honesty is what i want.

they arent clean yellow lemons.. but they are far from butt ugly.
tho they are greening out a bit on top..

the female has some nice blush spots on her, and the male has nice bands.

heads are both blushed really nice..

I'm going to throw out an "average" price of 1000.

I have to agree in that breeder sized pastels are around 1000.00 each and I give (depending on the weight of the females) between 250.00 and 500.00 for normal breeder females.

Okay, but what I think you're not getting is that the answer to your question isn't as black and white as the the question itself.
If you can't accept that the members here cannot really give you a clearcut answer, go onto kingsnake, research what your snakes might go for, and come up with a price yourself. Sell them for a price your willing to sell them for, and theres your answer. :salute:

Just wondering...Are you looking to sell them or just wondering what their value is.

As stated several times, WEIGHTS would really help. Saying they are a year old doesn't mean a lot,s ince I personally have small and large ball pythons that are a year old. I have one male that is 300g or so, and another one almost identical hatching date, that weighs over 600g. Especially in females this makes a BIG difference in the value.
A subadult pastel female(which is the most valuable snake you have-money wise) should be around $1000+. A ADULT breedable pastel female I think would be at least $1500+.
Males are going for around $250-400 depending on whether or not they are breeders, and how pretty they are.
Again, the VALUE depends on you, and if you are selling them, the value depends on the currant market, the desire of people to buy them, and the size and color.

well im trying to get a value on them, something i could consider a solid number. and if that number is right, i may put them up for sale..

im in class right now..

but ill have pics, and depending on if i can find a scale
weights today..

i understand the number is completely grey
and there is no way to tell for suure, but im trying to be as sure as i can be.

all of these pics were taken today.

the other female is finishing up a shed, so i didnt want to fool with her.

the two pastels are starting to haze a bit for a shed, so they were looking a little dull..

and my big girl just shed about 2 nights ago. so she looks as good as she can.

the female pastel is just a hair bigger than the male, since they born about 3 days apart.

also, the chair i took the pics in
the center patch is 13" fron inside seam to inside seam.

The pastels are sweet. Nice colors. The prices will also go down each season I think too. No matter what the size. Normal females used to be $500+ and now are more along $250. Everything's prices seem to go down each year.

if i were to sell my pastels right now, just the two pastels, what do you think they would be worth,

say they are 400-500 grams..
does that sound like a good guess, or does that seem to be too much for their size..

I think your big girl is GORGEOUS!! And I would definitely describe her as a "reduced pattern." She's very, very pretty!

The big girl is very pretty. I like the shading on her. I'd have to suggest you check kingsnake.com to compare 1.1 pastel subadults for pricing.

Try Kmart or Walmart. They should have kitchen scales which measure up to about 7# (3300g).

where would they have them..
i went everywhere in wal mart today...

Edit: I just looked closer, and that one is Online only, but you can order it to get delivered to the store for no shipping fees (7-10 days). There's also a list of places and when it'll be available in the store. I'm sure they have something in the store now that this will replace.

I had one just like that and for exact weights its no good. My weights were off by as much as 25 grams with that one.

Here is the scale I use...it is easy to use, accurate and best of all cheap.

wow - im really loving that girl , and the pastels are sweet too. I got my scale at target, but it only goes up to 2500g and, well, a lot of my girls max that thing out.

Price ranges are huge on pastels depending on looks, sizes, and who is selling them. I've seen awesome yearling females go for $500 that I thought were worth a lot more.

I'd say about $650 for your pastel pair... but there is probably someone out there who would sell them for less, and someone out there who would try to sell them for more.

ive looked everywhere locally for a scale, im gonna go christiansburg tomorrow and look around there. im guessing a walmart, or target over there would have one. if not im shure there is some place that would.

then thanks to some money needs, im going to sell my pastels, i still havent decided if i want to sell the one big girl yet.. but ill probably have to if i can only get 650-700 out of the pair...

on the other hand im going to try to adopt a jungle carpet i came across online, and put my name in at the local animal shelters as someone that adopts ball pythons and other reptiles.. :)

Eh.. I bought my Graz male (a 2004) from the Sutherlands last year for $500.
The female should be worth more; I would need pics to tell what I would pay for them. Graz is the line I like though; the blushing they seem to have more of, is my thing. :)
I would definately sell them seperately; selling in lots really does not get you the best price for anything.
Edit: the female is WC...? How would she be a Graziani then; just wondering.
