Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
I didn't want to hijack the migraine thread, so I started anew. I went to Mark's show (a Slayer cover band, so it had to be loud) last night. Smartie me decided to sit/stand right by the bass amp, and my ears are still ringing like crazy.
I always get the occasional ear-ringing, and had many ear infections as a child, teen and adult.. but this is Maddening!! How long will it take to go away? I had it before after going to concerts but it never lingered this long.. I swear, I was even drinking, and I didn't even get a hangover.. but my ears are just humming away.. :taz:
Mark was in the band itself, singing and yelling and bass playing, and his is gone now! And he was near an amp that was louder than the one I was near, b/c that was the lead guitarist's.

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
I stood near the amp during a Black Label Society show once and my ears rang for about two days.....
Have fun!!!!!!!!!! :carrot:

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
Yep! All the time, every day, 24/7/365. Some days worse than others. My room is good to me as I have a fish tank going as well as a loud fan, rats crunching on pasta/doing nightly errands, etc. Whatever I can do to cover up the noise in my head at night ;)

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
Anna, I could def. see that happening at a BLS show :) We'll see if this goes away or not.. seriously though, any concert I ever go to from now on, I am wearing earplugs. This is ridiculous.

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
many people are unaware that hitting kids in the head (slapping them near the ears) can cause tinnitus as can listening to loud music. problem is... permanent tinnitus usually takes 20 YEARS to show up!!!
so please people... think about that when you are listening to loud music or cuffing kids in the head... my friend has it from being cuffed. she has to have relaxing music playing all night in order to sleep!

Holy....people do that to their kids??? Honestly, I may be a horrible person for feeling this way, but I wish a HUGE guy were standing by to hit people who hit their kids in exactly the same manner. I probably shouldn't even type that in, it will anger so many people, but it's how I feel, and it makes me so sad that people do horrid things to the children they are supposed to love and cherish.

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
yeah I have tinnitus ...god I hate it :( People have actually commited suicide because of it...and I can say I dont blame them!!
Gosh its by far the worst thing to happen to me...I hate having to strain to hear if my toddler is making noise at night or if its just the pulsing...grrrrr
And yes I agree about the children...I look at my lil one...half of me and amazing in every way and could never imagine doing what was done to me in my life to her...and get sick when I hear horrible stories about children in this world being abused...I donht watch the news because of this...I know I cant keep her from knowing these things happen in this world but lord it makes me ill....

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
I stood up front for the Killswitch Engage/Chimaira concert directly in front of the amp. Usually it only takes a night for the ringing to stop. After Ozzfest it took a while though >_< I suppose it depends on the sensitivity of your ears. If it doesn't stop in a few more days maybe you should see a doctor :(

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
I played in hard rock bands from 16 to the age of 35. I'm 43 and my ears still ring. I think I might as well start playing again, it aint going away.

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
Vitamin B and LOTS of it!
Pick up some large bottles of B or B Complex and take 1 or 2 pills with each meal everyday. It will take a while (several weeks or even months) but it can help greatly.
There are also liquid B supplements you can take but they taste horrible and you have put it under your tongue to be absorbed.
Vitamin B isn't absorbed well by our bodies so it takes a while to work and your pee will turn yellow and smell bad, but it does help a lot with tinnitus. :salute:

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
Should pee be anything but yellow? Hehe :D

We're talking sunburst yellow. :sunny:

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
Yes, they are still ringing. I didn't notice it all day at work (I wear a headset and talk on the phone all day) but in the quiet of the bathroom, theys still are, but it has subsided quite a bit. I am seriously, honestly going to wear plugs next show I go to, and I really hope that anyone who reads this will do the same. This is a huge wakeup call for me; I honestly never even gave it a second thought since I had been to shows many times and it always went away the next day.
PantherCZ: is that the same b vitamin that they recommend for chronic fatigue? I have that also, and this might really be something to look into.. lol, if you don't know, that's OK, but I was just wondering if anyone knows about that, really..

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
I LOVE amp spots!!!! The last show I went to was a jazz show so thats never a noise problem but I have a metal show, surf rock show, rockabilly show and a ska show all coming up in the next few months (all local) :D :D :D

looks like I'm an easy candidate :P

Re: Tinnitus (ear ringing..)
For everyone that has tinnitus; do you remember how you got it? (Besides Raul, you explained it.)
They are fine now during the day with the din of life going on, but last night was rough and I was a millimeter within getting the fan out for some white noise.

What a horrible thing to do to a child! :( Think of how delicate their little heads/skulls are.. anyone who'd do that is nuts. I am glad that you brought this to light; maybe someone who would be unaware could learn something.

Yes I've heard of B being used for fatigue.
I had a constant ringing in my ears for a while, to the point where it would even affect my sleep. I got it from being in the Air Force and working around jets all day and listening to music a little too loud in my car while in high school.

I am going to look into the B vitamin then. Are there any brand names that you'd recommend? I'd think I could get it at GNC or Vitamin World..
