Re: First of the 07 season
how cute. got a few questions? whats the care requirements for them? how big do they get? What is their temperment like? and whats the general price for a childrens python? took a glance at your website and am curious about one of the pics.. what snake are you holding. Its the 2nd pic in the 4th row. thanx.
Re: First of the 07 season
The care requirements are pretty straightforward.
Cool side at 76-78 and warm at about 88F. They are native to Australia so they can get a bit cooler during the winter "hibernation" but nothing like our US natives. They grow to just under 3 ft. in length; a bit smaller than your corns. They are a fairly gentle snake but do have a wicked feeding response. LOL!
Prices can run from $60 - $75 each.
My website is soooooo outdated! :rolleye2: I need to get it updated! The pic is of an adult male Ford's boa (Epicrates fordii), native to Haiti.
If you have anymore questions, please feel free to drop me a pm.

Those are so cute! How well do they keep their color into adulthood?

thanx and they are so kewl.. had entertained the idea of buying one of those years back.. but then got into corns.. now learning what I can to venture into bp's and perhaps smaller boas. Not sure how the hubby will deal with that, but I figure if I give him a few years warning he'll warm up to the idea. not that he doesn't like snakes, he's just indifferent about it. :D Im sure he'll be like whatever.. and roll his eyes. heh.

Actually, they tend to get more red as they get older. Some get a dark brick red while others become a more reddish brown. Their pattern also tends to fade a bit as they get older. Here is a pic of their mother a few days before she laid the clutch.
