okay. the snake rack is complete. it's not as nice as we'd hoped. actually we aren't happy with it at all so no pics... we don't want to share our humiliation with you all. :P

so... now all we need is for the darned CITES to come through so i can get my 6 NEW SNAKES from adam... they've been paid for since december.

i'm a very patient person... but i'm done now. i don't wanna be patient anymore... now i want my freakin' snakes and i want them now! :taz:

so everyone, put your positive thoughts together for us and let's create this reality shall we?

If you are not happy with your rack you can cover it with something pretty. I put mine under a coffee table and it just barely sticks out. People come to our living room and never know that there is a snake in the room.

Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species. Just basically and international trade agreement.
And Aleesha hope they come soon, it's always a pain to wait for snakes.

CITES is the permit you need from fish and wildlife (i believe) to export snakes from the US to Canada. ;)

i just want to clarify here... i'm not the least been upset with adam... he's been a complete dream during this entire experience. i'm wanting the paper work to dot it's I and cross it's T and get me my snakes :P

Come on out with it...we are your friends we promise not to laugh (much :D ) ...but you might also get some good suggestions on ways to improve it.

i'll have to ask my hubby... he told me i was not to, under any circumstances share a pic of this rack with anyone.

oh and to top it all off... the wheels squeal... they don't squeak, they squeal :rofl:

I hope they come thru for ya soon... the wait really sucks, even if its a short wait...

it sure does but... honestly... if i have to wait a year for some of adam's snakes... i'm cool with that... cause IMO these snakes are totally worth the wait.

*and on the plus side... adam gets to pay for the prey items AND i end up with snakes closer to breeding age when they arrive* :P

hahahahahaha i think that's how my hubby wants to handle it :P

he wouldn't listen to me... he knew better and i'm just a woman... at least that's how the rack situation went. so i closed my mouth and let him do it his way... and it sucks. LOL

he used mdf instead of melamine... he put it together instead of painting it first... so it was super hard to paint each shelf top and bottom with only 6 inches to get your brush in there... and so there's paint drips and the mdf split (i suggested he use some bathroom/kitchen silicone)... in the end, it'll do... but it's not a nice piece like he usually makes. :P

but then... i'm a woman so what do i know :giggle:

(for those of you who do not live by 'the three year plan' let me explain it to you... if i ask for something to be done... he has, by right, three years to start on the said project... going to home depot and pricing it out counts as starting the said project. therefore if, at 2 years and 11 months he takes time out of his busy day (lounging in the new recliner and playing video games :rofl: ) to take a trip to the hardware store and prices out the items... then the project is considered underway.

this, of course, extends the project another three years... as a three year plan gives both parties ample opportunity to discuss the plans, change the plans, tweak the plans and procrastinate. which, in his opinion (and other followers of the 'three year plan' believe), is vital to the proper undertaking and carrying out of any plans.)

Lordy Aleesha if your hubby and my Mike got together...well let's just say the 3 year plan would get WAY extended *sigh* At least you have a rack built! We are still in the talking about it stage (been going on what almost 2 years now?). I should have just bought Tim or Cue a plane ticket and had them come build me some dang racks...would have been easier I think.

heehee... well our corn snakes need a rack as well. :P i "offered" to use the rack for snakes who are going to live in my bedroom and he can make a new rack for the living room snakes and he said he wants to make two new ones... well that's just silly IMO... i'll definitely use this one. after all... getting another one built can take another 3 years :eek:
