    Freddie......no Fredricka?????????
Here's a wierd one.. I have two full grown BP's who have lived together in the same cage for four years......no big deal.... We were told they were both boys and they just got along so they were never separated. Well now I know why they got along, I woke up this morning to two eggs and by the time I was at work and called the wife to let her know, we had 7 eggs.
I am not set up to breed and had no intention of ever breeding so here's my question, can the snake properly incubate the eggs, or will they not survive.I have removed the male and am not sure what to do now. I don't want to invest in an incubator so should I just get rid of the eggs now or what?

Um... well I guess you learned your lesson about keeping them together. ;)

I sure hope they're separated now.

    2 options...

    1. She is capable of incubating them herself. Keep your temps rock steady and your humidity up. She more than likely won't eat till she is done (she will be fine)...in about 50-60 days. Don't touch the eggs or move them. If she seperates any out away from the rest you can assume it is bad and toss it. It is much harder to incubate materially in captivity but it can and has been done.

    2. Find a breeder near you that might want them.

    Good Luck

Reminds me of a movie I saw once, all the animals are the same sex, no unauthorized breeding in...ZOMG!!! ITS JURRASIC PARK!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!

Grats on the clutch though, even if you dont want it. :D

For future reference, your lucky you got eggs instead of finding one BP ate the other... I would keep them separated from now on.

oh, BTW, congrats on the eggs!

There has been only one documented case that I am aware of that one ball was eaten by another. They were a group of communally caged ch babies that were dehydrated and in bad shape.

Actually we had a member right on here that had her breeding female completely eat the male. She posted pictures of the female snake afterwards of it. It DOES happen.

No...she found the male...turns out he was hiding somewhere in the enclosure.

make your own incubator. get some vermiculte or perlite, wet it enough to be moist, if it clumps its good (so I read) and put the eggs in there. If the room is warm enough they could hatch at room temp as long as the humidity stays where its supposed too. any experts wanna add to what I wrote, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ps: or send them too me! :D

i would leave her with the eggs, since breeding isn't really what you want to do anyways and see what happens. there is a thread in the archives where someone left their female with the eggs with very good results.

housing two snakes together is not a good idea and now that you know you have one of each sex, it's even more important that they no longer share the same enclosure as they will continue to breed.

your female will need some yummy food to get her back up to weight after this is all over with.

    i wish you well

Maybe I'll try that. I have an extra enclosure and light set up. I just was not prepared for this.

These two snakes lived together for three years before I got them and I've had them about a year. They have never been agressive towards each other so I have just left them together, until now that is.

Boy, the Momma is a pissy little thing now. She won't let me get anywhere near her eggs or close to the cage without getting in strike mode. Very protective!

Just wait till you try and take the eggs away :D

Also, if you do decide to incubate them DO NOT change their orientation. How they were laid is how they must remain. Also, you cannot seperate them (if they fall apart that is OK but do not pull on them).

The ideal incubation temp is 89...a degree or two lower is OK but no higher. And you want near 100% humidity in the box with the eggs. If you can find a product called Hatchrite (sold at pet or reptile stores) it will make setup for the eggs easier as it already has the correct amount of water added so you aren't trying to mix vermiculite)

Let us know if you have questions.
