If you have never looked at a Black Pastel, take a good look and... come over to the dark side. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...g?t=1177532865

Sorry for the newbie question, but whats makes a Pastel as Pastel?

I assumed the Lemon Pastels were labeled so because their undertones were highly Yellow.. but this just looks like slight variation of a sub-adult Normal to me..

Ed, I have always wondered why some black pastels/cinnies have the dorsal stripe....and some don't. I have always liked the ones with striping more....is it just random?

Daniel, stripping in ball pythons is common, there also are genetic lines of stripes.

The random stripping that shows up in Cinnamon and Black Pastels really make them special.

Smulkin all stretched out. :P http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...g?t=1177534078

The last picture shows the striping that I was talking about. It seems very common amoung black pastels/cinnies. I was asking if that was just a random occurance or if it was genetic amoung certain lines of the morph. I have always prefered the cinnies that have either the thin stripe down their entire back or are completely brownbacked.

Godess has squiggles in the pattern that make it look like faces. Very cool! I only have cinnies, haven't crossed over to the darkside yet. Might have to cross over for the black super cinny!

Daniel, heres a Black Pastel with some stripping...could be a worth while project breeding these stripes together. I prefer the Black Backs and never kept any of these striped ones. :) http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...g?t=1177547205

This Cinnamon Pastel has alot of the stripe going on. Black Pastels and Cinnamons are very similar and both exibit the same stripping.:) http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n...g?t=1177548488
