Just for fun
What was your first concert?
Mine was Ratt/Bon Jovi!
-
Re: Just for fun
Puddle of Mudd and Seven Dust (don't anybody feel old, I was 18).
-
Re: Just for fun
Does a small cafe-performance count? I've never been to a big-name band stadium-style concert. Ever.
So, my first "concert" a-la-Helsinki Cafe was Kevin So and Deirdre Flint (they're folk singers :) ).

Re: Just for fun
Micheal Jacksons victory tour! HEE HEEE!!!:carrot:

Re: Just for fun
Ooooh, cool concert, Amy!
LOL Kim, yeah, that totally counts! Folk singers always make me think of that movie "A Mighty Wind"....great stuff!
Wow, Michael Jackson....that must have been entertaining!

Haha, I debated with myself about adding "with your parents doesn't count"...otherwise mine would be Conway Twitty! :D
I bet EW&F was a great show, though!
-
Re: Just for fun
KISS Farewell tour 2004.
-
Re: Just for fun
Awesome, MeMe! I saw Kiss a couple of times in the 80's, those guys *really* put on a great show.

Re: Just for fun
Greenday, for the "dookie" album...
-
Re: Just for fun
Mike, you were definitely raised with good taste....looove Dave Matthews Band!
Joe, I am completely green with envy.
-
Re: Just for fun
Hmm....
*thinking*
You know something I can't really remember!
We used to have this radio station (99.1 for the va people) that put on a big concert every year called HFStival. I've been to a few of them so I can't really remember who played at my "first"!
But I've seen:
Rage Against the Machine
Incubus
311
Staind
Sevendust
Cypress Hill
Blood Hound Gang
Limp Bizkit
Tenacious D
Stone Temple Pilots
Fuel
And tons of other bands. So some of the above have to be included in "my first!" Can't really remember them all!
-
Re: Just for fun
Does Ozzfest 06 count? :D
Black Label Society was awesome! Norma Jean and Unearth were good too. :)
I haven't been to a Rammstein concert(they haven't toured since 05,) but I would absolutely kill to go.
-
Re: Just for fun
I love Dave Matthews Band, there coming in august i believe i so want to go.

Re: Just for fun
Oh yeah, I love rock fests...Here we have EDGEfest, but this year the lineup was kinda lame, so we skipped it.
You have seen some awesome bands, Susan! I'd particularly love to see Incubus, from that list.
Haha Anna, we'll let Ozzfest count, just this once ;)

OMGZ Christopher Guest is the :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:. You are after my heart!
And I have to say my favorite concert of all time was Foo Fighters/Weezer.

I agree! I've never actually been to a regular concert with just one headlining band.

Incubus, Rage, and 311 were the best I've seen hands down!!!
-
Re: Just for fun
Mine was HFStival back in 1998. Local radio station had a bunch of bands lined up and went there with my first boyfriend. LOL
-
Re: Just for fun
Rush, Head East, and Bebop Delux. I think we rode dinosaurs to the show.
-
Re: Just for fun
I'm going to see Rush in a few months. :)

So will I. My son is a bass player also, and that will be his first concert.

Re: Just for fun
Man, so many great bands popping up in this thread!
I have to say, y'alls HFSfest seems to have a much cooler lineup than our EDGEfest has!
Oh, and speaking of Rush, they are coming to Dallas in August. I couldn't even believe that when I heard it!
-
Re: Just for fun
They will be here in June.
-
Re: Just for fun
The Sounds of the Underground tour(link here) is coming to Winston Salem(smaller town near Raleigh) sometime this summer. I have no idea why, as Raleigh has more people + a very nice amphitheater. I think they do it to try and pull people from Greensboro and Charlotte to it, since Raleigh is kind of far from them. Making a midway point so to speak. :confuzd: Anyway, I think I might as well go, I don't think I'll see GWAR anywhere else. :D
-
Re: Just for fun
Hahaha....I'm gonna seriously date myself here...or maybe not, because it's likely no one will even know who I'm talking about. But maybe...
My first concert, I was 11 or 12 or so...maybe 13. I don't really remember. But while my Mom took me, it was MY concert, not hers. Shaun Cassidy. Ohmygosh....first real crush...saw him in concert and thought I was gonna die right there. It was SUCH a 1970's girly moment!
-
Re: Just for fun
I don't really know, there's been a lot. I think the most fun I've had at one would be any one of the KRock-a-thons I've been to (4). They were all good!
-
Re: Just for fun
Ooops, first concert...not best. Sorry. First concert was, no one laugh!, MC Hammer! "It's Hammer-time!" lol
-
Re: Just for fun
First concert - Jan and Dean. Now who's old? lol

I was going to comment on all the young whipper-snappers around here, but you win the prize for most... experienced. ;)
My first concert was the Rolling Stones-Tattoo You tour. My favorite concerts were probably the US Festivals (1 and 2) in Southern California. One of the coolest concerts I've been to was Oingo Boingo who played in an amusement park in Santa Clara. Danny Elfman can JAM. :carrot:
-
Re: Just for fun
Wow!
First...say YES to GWAR! lol
And MC Hammer....gosh, that brought back some memories....ahhh, looove the 80's! Same goes for Oingo Boingo!
LOL, Judy, I had a crush on Shaun as well, wasn't quite old enough to know what that meant at the time, though ;)
I am bowing down to the Jan & Dean, though.
That's true classic greatness!
-
Re: Just for fun
Talkin' about old, my first concert was Loretta Lynne & Charlie Pride at the Il. State fair.
-
Re: Just for fun
 Government Mule...man I was messed up at that concert lol.
-
Re: Just for fun
Ted Nugent.
Also saw Head East, but I really don't remember anything about that concert. Didn't remember anything about that concert the next day. :(
These were in the late 70's.
These days when I can't remember a concert the next day, its because I'm old.
Steve

Re: Just for fun
First "official" big name concert...Natalie Cole "Unforgettable"
But I had been and have been to untold number of bluegrass and folks concerts and festivals, symphonies, operas, ballets, musicals....so...not sure what to count...
-
Re: Just for fun
Oh lordy, I've been to so many that I can barely remember them
First concert ever..... Was Tool with my dad for the first round of their Lateralus Tour.
First Concert alone...Evanescence or Incubus... i don't remember
here's my list so far
Tool
Evanescence
Linkin Park
AFI
Incubus
Story of the Year
Hoobastank
Staind
Kittie
Adema
Cypris Hill
Rolling Stones
P.O.D.
The Toadies
Cold
...and it goes on and on.. if I could remember them all.
-
Re: Just for fun
Boy am I glad there have been some oldies posted so I don't feel all alone. :)
My first concert was Blood, Sweat and Tears quickly followed by the original touring group for Jesus Christ Superstar. Both were at Florida State when I was in my freshman year.
-
Re: Just for fun
My first was the Tea Party! Great show back before they were big.. lousy b/c my stupid ex at the time was slammed into by some big lady and started crying!! I just focused on the show after that.. they must have had 100 different instruments involved.. They played with the Headstones, who rocked!!
Before that I had seen various family/friends' bands, not sure if that counts..
My last concert was Slayer!! WOW was it awesome to be up in front of the pit!
Another memorable one was Type O Negative and Coal Chamber in the late 90's.. awesome too, and I got a CC guitar pick!
Has anyone else seen Marilyn Manson live? I also saw Nine Inch Nails in the late 90's.. but had the crappiest stadium seats for both of these.. :(

Re: Just for fun
Ha! I can top you all for the most embarrassing. My first concert was New Kids On the Block. In my defense though, it was my stepsister's choice and I just kinda went along for the ride. I think the following one was Metallica. My favorite would be a either Bon Jovi or Def Leppard. (although all in all I'm not a huge fan of concerts  )

LOL!!! I use to love NKOTB! I had such a crush on Joey  those blue eyes were gorgeous! I would like to have seen Metallica! They are so awesome!

Re: Just for fun
Loretta Lynn had to be cool! Ok, I grew up loving her, so I may be wierd...
LOL Gin, I'm cracking up at your bf crying like a girl. That must make for a great memory!
I never saw Manson in concert, but he did stay at the hotel I worked at when he came to Dallas, and I saw him leaving to go perform, from across the lobby. I also opened a cab door for John Denver about 3 months before his death, and chatted about hair with Ice T while waiting for a cab. Everyone should work at a 5 star at least once in their life! :D

ACK! You just had to say that! I then started thinking (should have known to stop there)..... I can actually name all of them. Oh the horror! I was more a Jonathan fan myself....
It's kinda like having to name all the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when the movie came out. I could do that too, but felt cool when I did. :giggle: Followed by a feeling of being OLD, when I started to try and remember how old I was when I first started watching the cartoons.
-
Re: Just for fun
I went to see "Bush" in 1996

I can't help myself, SHAUN CASSIDY!!!!!! *snarl* My sister was addicted to him!!!! I was forced to listen to his records over and over and over and over..... I hadn't liked him before that and that did not help!!!!!!!!!
Do you remember, "Hey Deenie won't you come out tonight? The stars are playing the moon is shining so bright........" lol
As for that my first concert was *hangs head and whispers* Air supply.

Oh you had to bring up Air Supply! I helped set up the stage at an Air Supply concert in 1981/2 when I was in Korea, free to us Military people. Wouldn't say I would ever pay to see them back then but there is nothing wrong with a little LOVE music once in a while.
-
Re: Just for fun
Mine was also Kiss. I snuck out of my house. I was 14yrs old and Mom said I couldn't go. PS I have seen every Kiss tour to date. I would love to take my 15yrs old son to see them. Hoping for one more tour.

Hahaha....I might have done the same thing to my sister, but she was too young to notice or care at the time. I remember that song....had every one of his records and memorized every song on each one.
I loved Air Supply back in the day, and still enjoy singing along with their old tunes. But I guess I'll always be an "outsider" in this regard....can't relate to 95% of my BP.netter's music selections. :P
