*sigh*...My first bite...
Well, he just ate and I was setting his cage back up and had my hand in there putting his hide back in and he flew through the air and got me. He got a decent bite in too, about half an inch or so above the knuckle, prolly got about 15-25 little cuts from his teeth. didnt hurt at all, felt like I scratch my finger on something rough, but scared the freakin :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: out of me. Will never look at him the same, mean little sucker, lol, next time he bites me its on son, its on like donkey kong, :sabduel: , take him out back and go hand to hand with him. Id have pics but my camera sucks and it blurs the image. Just when you think your safe, when you think your ok, the impossible happens, your world is turned upside down and the ones you hold closest are lost and the once safe world you were in, has become dangerous chaos.... :8:

I'm so sorry for you. I know how you feel. From this moment, you can't trust anyone. Things are never going to be the same again. From now on, it's war!!! :sabduel:

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
Next time the snake bites ya give him a hard pinch under the neck.

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
There is no need to remove hides before feeding. Since ball pythons are actually ambush preditors...having hides to hunt from helps them feel more secure.
Bites happen....thats what makes keeping reptiles exciting ;)

My brother was home from school and has never seen him eat, so i moved all the stuff in the cage out of the way so him and his friend could see easier. Normally I just plop the mouse in and let him do his thing.

There lies the problem...He thought your warm hand was another mouse!! I wouldn't put my hand in a snakes tub when he is in feeding mode!!

Please tell me that you are joking..
Bites happen. Taking it personally is completely pointless; just move on.

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
I am very new to BP ownership so keep that in mind but I have a guess as to why he bit you. You just fed the snake bro, he's looking for more food, common sense. Why did you chose to take out his hides before feeding? I am just curious as to what you thought doing that would accomplish. When I was in high school I had a friend who was showing me his new BP and it bit him. He got pissed and threw the snake accross his room into a wall. I immediately punched him in the face causing my mother to pay for this kids dental work. When I explained to my mother what exactly happened she didnt blame me for what I did. If there is one thing I can't tollerate it's seeing a person hurt an otherwise innocent deffeseless animal be it a dog or a snake. I hope you were just kidding with your later comments, if you can't handle a BP bite it's proborably better not owning one. A cat scratch is 20 times worse.
If you were just kidding relax and learn to read your snake and how he's thinking. I am still in that process but I can defineatly tell when he's relaxed or if he's looking for food.

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
I always feared I'd fling one across the room as a startled reaction... I'm still looking forward to my first bite... *sigh*

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
BostonMack, did you even read my post? if not, please go back and do so, if you have, then please go back and re-read it once more, carefully, slowly, out loud even, and then you will see your post is completely worthless and not needed at all.
If you couldnt pick up on any of the sarcasim in my post then you should really work on that, otherwise your gonna have a rough time here. Second, if you read any of the later post, you will see someone saying to "pinch him on the chin" which would be a form of discipline when he bites....FOR A DOG! you dont discipline a snake when it bites you, and you can clearly see my thoughts on this when I quoted the post and said I hope that that person was kidding, cause thats cruel and just mean, he just ate, and my hand was in there, my fault, no where did I blame him for it, which you suggest I did, no where did I get angry with him, which you clearly suggest I did, and no where do I blame the snake, which you also suggest. all the questions in your post has been covered in this thread, which you clearly didnt read. Which, once again, I ask you to go back, read my original post, then read the replys following that post.

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
Snake,
Whooa, slow down man. Did I say anything in my post to offend you? Did I not say that if you were kidding to disregard my post? I shared my high school story to just show that although you may have been being sarcastic in your post that their is however a ton of idiot snake owners out there that do hit and abuse their snakes for biting and it's rediculous.
Not sure why your freaking out but if I offended you I am sorry. I like this forum allot so I hope I don't have too "rough" of a time here.

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
One last thing.
Where did I suggest you blamed the snake? Where did I suggest you got angry at the snake?
I asked a couple questions and I did so without being a jerk because I had a feeling you were being sarcastic. It seems you may have misunderstood my reply. Regardless, it's not worth arguing about like a couple of school girls ;)

Nah, your cool, just read your post as an attack, so my apologies as well. I couldnt imagine hurting any of my pets for them going by their natural instinct, so again, sorry I misread your post and read it as an attack. I forget sometimes my sarcasim comes off hard to read...

EDIT: bah, you type faster then me so your 2nd post beat my reply.. :sabduel:

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
It's all good Snake, as great as these forums are to have it's easy to come off the wrong way which I did here. Anyway, see ya around and give that snake of yours a good whack on the nose ;) .

Re: *sigh*...My first bite...
Hahaha, I'm just messing around with you peeps. I'd never pinch my own snake. I figured most would see it as a joke and get a giggle from it. Y'alls gotta loosen up!!
