    Who here can whistle loudly?
You know, how people use their fingers to make a really loud whiste to haul a taxi or call in their dog. Damn, I wish I could do that. For those of you who do know how and can, my question is how can you? I got to learn! :)

I can. It's easier to do it with your index and middle finger of both hands. Start practicing this way. Use those two fingers on both hands to push underneith the tip of your tongue, so that it folds back. The bottom of your tongue should almost be touching your lower lip, which should be pressed down and back by your fingers. There should be a gap between your upper lip and your fingers. Use your lungs and blow. When you master this, switch to the index finger and thumb from one hand, forming a partial circle.

I wish I could! My husband has the loudest whistle with no fingers, just somehow folding tongue and lips. I don't know how he does it but it is LOUD!

    deb

(and yes, I think I was rather silly looking trying the steps above, too!)

Hehe....I'm only looking silly in front of my 4 year old...and he thinks I'm silly to begin with, so it's OK. Making myself dizzy, though! :rolleye2:

Yeah, start with 4 before trying the thumb and index finger. it's easier with four. At least it was for me. Deb, I can do that loud whistle with the folded tongue and sucked in bottom lip. That was my loud whistle until a kid showed me how to do it with your fingers. This is WAY louder. :)

I can whistle without fingers. I cannot whistle with fingers in my mouth. Never could, but then, never needed to, as I was usually whistling to get the atention of some animal that I couldn't grab bc my hands were occupied. Not to mention, growing up a commercial fisherman, you didn't stick your hands in your mouth unless it was REALLY necesary. Fish guts just aren't that tasty.

One thing I can thank the slight gap in my two front teeth for are my bird calls. I can sound exactly like all the birds that harass me in the morning and can whistle classical songs too. Useless talent I know.
