    Sable Pics!
My guy just shed, and I haven't really photographed him much since we have had him. He appears to get darker with each shed, and I just can't get enough looking at him. They also have some cool bellies, so I tried to take a pic of that too, but he wasn't the most cooperative upside down snake. Here are some pics. I also tried some different flash settings and lighting, so they could be better, but I am trying to tweak a few things.

Thanks everybody. He is one of my favorites for next year's breeding program. I wish I could have bred him this year and got a female (I love the supers), but as everyone already knows, There is always next year! LOL.

That is a superliciously sexy stunning Sable!!!! Can't wait to see what you produce with him, Tim. The best Sables have a kind of velvety, oily look to them with iridescence you don't normally see in a ball python, and yours is no exception....that's really a nice animal. I bet it's hard to capture the extent of his rainbow sheen using a digital camera.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Sables are going to continue to grow in popularity, especially when it comes to combos. ;)

Thanks Kara. You are correct in that he is one of those animals that are extremely difficult to photograph. I think that in person he is slightly darker. He does have that velvety appearance though. I love it. Definitely one of my favorite aquisitions from last year.
    Thanks for the luck Mike.

    You know my question...
What are you going to breed him with? It seems there are very few crosses out there with these right now. I the Super Sable in any color morph would be cool!

    Awesome snake Tim!

Thanks Cory. I have been dreading thinking about next year's breeding line-up. I am starting to get too many snakes and want to see too many things. I am going to put off thinking about what I am breeding next year until I have to.

Nice snake Time.....sables are way cool!! They are one of those snakes that you have to hold to "get" what what is going on with them. Good stuff and good luck with him.

Thanks Joe. I have been thinking of crossing him with a Hypo. Then again, I think a Hypo anything will look good. Heck, just Hypos look good. How're your smokin Hypos doing this year? Making any cool crosses with them?

Hypos are doing well. I hope to make some hypo pastels this year and I am trying to get mojaves and brown backs into my hypos......but we'll see. And more hypos......you can't have too many of them! ;)

I have a few projects going that I am pretty excited about. I have a brown back to pastel pairing.....both animals are sweet and I am dying to see what they throw. I also have a brown back to brown back breeding that I want to see eggs from. I just want to get the brown back project off the ground...it is just one of those projects that seems like it is taking forever:irkd:
I also bred a pewter to a hypo pastel but got a weak clutch of 3 eggs and 2 eggs that are going bad.

I am just happy to get eggs though. I moved during last breeding season and it really crushed my egg production so this year I'll take what I get and be happy about it;)

I hadn't had a chance to say so yet...but Tim...that sable is GORgeous!! I've always had a fondness for the really dark, rich colors and I think sables will be among my favorites someday. Just gotta see some in person! ;)

Judy, I like the dark colors as well. Monica is not a big fan of the dark snakes, she has taste more like Robin. That's ok though, at least I know she won't ever claim any of my dark beauties as her own. Thanks for the compliment.

You and Monica are the flip side of Mike and I. Mike's into the really dark toned ball pythons and I'm all about the lovely bright or very light ones. To each his/her own and it's fun to have both in any collection so it all works out.
