    Lots O' Babies
With a ton of new litters and a minimal amount of space at the moment, I have 3 moms with similar aged babies in the same tank. I snapped this picture of one mom trying to nurse all the babies.

I can't tell the difference between Himalayan and Siamese. If you say she is, I believe you. She has the dark nose and butt. All her babies from this litter look pretty much exactly like her.

The last picture is the tell tale one...she is a SIAMESE. Siamese's tails are the same color as their butts all the way down...where as Himi's have the color only a little way down. Also, the color in her shoulders isn't present in a Himi.

Very nice example of one...do you have a male one as well?

Very cool! No male one. I believe her last breeding was with an Albino male. I don't keep great records when it comes to rat breeding.

She's SUPERMOM! Whenever I've had to bunk up moms and litters, Jamie, it always seems one momma rat takes over the bulk of the work while her lazy sisters enjoy the break from their stuck-on-the-teats babies. She's a lovely rat and obviously a top breeder for your colony. She'd be the kind of female that I would keep a daughter or two back before momma hits her retirement age. Those kind of genetics are something you want to keep going in your female breeder group.

She is a good one. I have kept back a bunch of girls from her past litters. One is actually breeding now. On the other hand I have a girl that just had 5 babies today and is ignoring them. First time mom. I put them with another mom who is now nursing them. I'll give that girl one more shot.

Yep I do pretty much the same Jamie. Consistent smaller litters, no good mothering skills they get another chance....turning on their young or being aggressive (more than normal protective mothering)...off to the feeder bin.

Typical male rat! He's probably off somewhere licking himself and snarfing down lab block!
