Our newest Wildlife Find!
I didn't get to see it, but Monica caught in on film. While raking up some pine needles, Monica saw a Red-eared Slider from our pond acting strange on land. Well come to find out, she was laying eggs. Here are some pics that Monica took.
p.s. Does anybody know how long slider eggs incubate for, as I would like to possibly catch some pics of the babies?

Oh that is SO cool!! I wish I knew the answer to your question...but hopefully someone else does. I think it'd be amazing to see wild hatchlings emerging!!

Monica gets all of the credit for those pics. She has been getting pretty good with the camera lately.

Pretty cool Tim!
If you have an extra hovabator/incubator sitting around, why not dig up the eggs and incubate them yourself? They would stand a much better chance of hatching in your care than in a hole in the ground....lmao...unless you keep racoons in your house ;) Just a thought.

That looks more like a yellow belly slider.

Very cool pics. Let us know if you decide to pull them and incubate them.
Re: Our newest Wildlife Find!
Way Cool...They should hatch in about 55-65 days. Also, if you decide to incubate them yourself keep in mind that in turtles temp determines sex so you will want to research the correct temp to get a mix.
Good Luck
Re: Our newest Wildlife Find!
i dont think that is a RES ethere.
Re: Our newest Wildlife Find!
Thanks for all of the replies everybody. I don't think we'll be incubating them. Also, it may not be a RES, but I was not home for this and therefore could not properly identify it. Most of the turtles in our pond are RES, so I just made that assumption. It is quite possible something else.
