    recent Animal Plastics orders?
I ordered an AP Economy rack 4 weeks ago this coming monday. Their estimates all say "allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery".

Well it hasn't shipped yet and monday is 4 weeks so they have blown that estimate. Now how did I KNOW that would happen?

Has anyone ordered recently from AP? how long did it take to receive?

    Thanks.

I ordered a rack a couple of years ago, and the shipment was delayed a few weeks. I think at the time he was having supplier issues with the plastics people. I thought he was going to switch suppliers, but it may be something else. Either way, they were pretty good at responding to my inquiries. Have you called or emailed them about the delay?

Have you tried contacting them about your order status? It's never a bad idea to ask what current lead times are when you're dealing with a product that has to be manufactured when the order is placed (opposed to something kept "in stock"). My experience with them lately has been anywhere from 4-8 weeks post-order, but I've also placed some large orders with several customizations and additions.

Drop Mark or Ali a line or give them a call - they've always been extremely cordial & easy to deal with in my experience.

I haven't contacted them yet, I was going to wait until Monday when it is actually 4 weeks from date of order. I did ask when I ordered and was told 3-4 wks instead of the normal 2-4 wks, but it was still within 4 wks. A bit too optimistic I guess.

I was just wondering if they are exceptionally busy right now or if others are having their orders take longer than usual. Or maybe it IS usual for them to take over a month.

I know from speaking with several other keepers who have recently placed volume orders that they're pretty busy right now...4 weeks is pretty typical.

I'd bet that several popular cage manufacturers are swamped this time of year (baby season + tax refunds = cage orders). :D

That's fine if they are that busy, I just wish they would be more realistic with their delivery estimates then.

If 4 weeks is typical, well they already missed that window, we're looking at 5 or more now.

Also, if you look on their terms page, it clearly states "Customer will be informed of estimated lead times when placing their order." Their invoices may say please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery, but it never hurts to ask as well!

    :)

They answered my email this late on a friday. Apparently it is being boxed up now but won't ship until Monday.

So it looks like depending on how long FedEx takes, it will end up being about 4.5 weeks. Not bad I guess.

I always end up choosing the absolute worst time to order anything like this. Same thing happened recently with a big rat cage I ordered from Martin's Cages. Everyone has great quick service, until I place my order, then everything is backed up for weeks or months.

look at it this way at least you didnt buy form boaphile you would have 4 more weeks to go. not that i am knocking his cages but he also says 2-4 weeks and never meets it.

I order a economy rack aswell 3 weeks ago and it shipped out yesterday, they are busy atm, Ali also told me that they are designing cb-70 economy racks soon, so I cut them a break I want the cb-70 economy rack! Also I believe that they assemble all order to make sure everythings good to go then dissassemble and ship. Youll get an email when it ships out with a tracking number on it.

    An update on this thread...

My rack shipped yesterday, and I got it today. Not bad for ground service, but it shipped from Iowa and I'm near Chicago so it didn't have far to go.

So it took 4 weeks and 1 day to receive my rack. Close enough to their estimate I should say.

It went together rather quickly as well, completely built and heat rope threaded in just over an hour. Now I just have to wait for my Herpstat to come in the mail. Shipped from in-state yesterday via USPS and of course nothing yet, probably won't see it for 3 -4 days the way USPS has been recently.
