I got asked!

My local herp haunt has asked a huge thing of me!!!!! They have asked that I do a class with Q&A once a week for an hour for any new reptile owners, customers of theirs and people with questions about their animals. It will be free for charge to any one attending. I am going to be covering everything from setups with demos on enclosure setup to common problems and illnesses. I am hoping to have the care sheets available from this site for anyone that needs them. And have the occasional guest speaker. I know I will have loads of questions for you guys brushing up on some of my lizards and colubrids(sp).

Hey, that's great! It's nice that your local herp place wants to set something like that up for their new customers, and really good of you to do it! Let us know how session #1 goes.

This came about after me and the owner got to ranting about "impulse buyers" and the harm it causes animals. So he got a spot in his shop for me and I can use any of his animals and equipment. In the long run it'll help the animals and the people better enjoy their companion.

Well each month I'll be focusing on a particular animal. I.e balls one month, BD one month leos one month and so on. Each class will deal with an area of this animal I.E intro into the animal one week, Proper set up and husbandry the next and so on. After each class I'll do my best to field any herp related questions or better explain something I went over. I will have hand outs of what we went over so people can enjoy and not have to take notes.

More pet shops need to do exactly what you were asked to do. It would be a great step forward. People need information on the animals they are interested in before making the decision to purchase one. This will probably increase that particlar shop sales by having someone there to give accurrate info, instead of what the sales person is told to say.

You'll do great!! Have fun with it!:D I was scared out of my wits my first talk on animal husbandry, but half way thru I was having a blast. It's great talking to people that care enough to actually go out of their way to attend such talks. It always helps when you know they are truly interested.:sunny:

Congrats! Now you can teach people how snakes should really be kept!
Hopefully you can put the fear of God into anyone who wants to use heat rocks or put multiple animals together! :D
