    I have had enough! DUW!!!!
Time to post some pics of my little guy/gal............his/her name is Eggo! :D

the last pic is of this food i brought at the white plains show awhile back.....the guy told me it was a complete crested gecko diet, and that i would not need to dust with calcium! Has anyone ever heard of it? i hope he is right because it's all i have been using!

    Enjoy......

eggo looks great! you picked a nice one. :gj:

what you have there is the cgd (crested gecko diet) that we refer to here all the time. it is the best and most complete diet for cresteds as you were told. i do still dust crickets with calcium (i feed them once or twice per week in addition to the cgd) but if you don't feed insects you don't need to add any other calcium to eggo's diet.

Ty, thats a really great looking crestie, heres the deal...feed the CGD just before you turn the lights out at nite. if its not all gone in the morning add a little baby food to it next feeding, I like apricots with mixed fruit or peaches. all my cresties love this food and there is no reason to feed bugs other than an occasional treat. :)

Hmmmmmm! interesting! he has never ate all of his food! i barely cover the bottom of a small shallow dish! i just thought they had small stomaches! i see where he licked part of it but it's never all gone! should he be eating more? he is pretty small

if he is eating the cgd at all you don't need to add baby food to it. baby food is high in sugar which is not good for cresteds and also throws off the balance of the cgd--this balance is crucial so you don't want to mess with it if at all possible.

the only reason you should add baby food is to get a non-cgd eater switched over to eating cgd--you add the baby food and then take it out a little at a time until you aren't using it at all.

baby cresteds do have small stomachs. as long as he is eating some and growing you don't have any reason to be concerned.

I have some different ideas about this, in the wild of New Caledonia crested geckos are very rare. but a group of researchers found that a reliable way of finding these geckos was to search under fruit trees with fallen fruit and they would find these geckos eating the over ripened fruit on the ground. so I dont believe that sugar is a concern, I feed my cresties fruit or baby food often and they seem to be fat and growing good and reproduceing well. I mix the chopped fruit or baby food in with the CGD. works for me. :P

Im sure that everyone has many different ideas and let us know what works for you. :)

natural sugar that comes from fruit is fine (feeding fresh fruits is great), it's the sugar that is added to most baby foods that is not. there are organic baby foods that don't have any sugar added, and by itself as a treat that is probably fine. however, the crested gecko diet was made to be fed alone, with nothing added but water. adding anything to it throws off the balance that was developed to be just right for cresteds.

    nice crested tyree!

back when i kept/bred cresteds, i found for me they grew well on dusted crickets. i did the baby food diet mix too. overall about 80% crickets and 20% babyfood diet mix. mine loved peach babyfood alot!

i've seen a few that were fed too much babyfood, they were too fat!! looked like the michelin man! :D i don't think they could climb a tree:eek:
