    Licterman Nature Center - DUW
I took my kids to a local nature center to try 'hiking' a bit. Turns out they love it, and we ended up walking the trails for 3 hours. The center even provides food to feed the geese, turtles and fish. It was wonderful place for the kids to get in touch with nature, even though the geese are nesting and a bit testy. Stupid goose isn't going to intimidate me though. ;) (although my poor daughter was fearing for her life  ) Here's a couple pics from our trip.

Some cute fuzzy tent caterpillars (my daughter loved these and I had to post them for Kim)

    Thanks.

They way my daughter screamed, you'd think it was a swamp monster going to drag her back to it's lair. I felt so silly having to fend off a goose.

Awww, thanks. I can't even tell you how much they enjoyed the place, which is wonderful. No real 'high tech' stuff, just good old nature! I'm so glad that they enjoy it, as it's taken me 10 years to convince the hubby that nature and camping are fun. (well actually the kids convinced him :giggle: )

Everything is blooming, and our allergies are proof of that! I've heard that the once the trees bloom a bit more all the trails are completely shaded and one of the coolest places.

Thanks Susan. We had lots of fun looking for the tents. That particular one had the largest caterpillars.... it was a full house.

Nice pictures, Christie. I have to agree, that caterpillar one is pretty amazing. And I didn't realize geese and turtles got along so well. :)

Yay!! :) That was so sweet of you to post them for me! Yet another page out of my childhood. I grew up in Florida, so we had those things all OVER the place in the spring. We also had these grasshoppers that would suddenly appear one day every Spring and there would be hundreds of baby ones hopping all over the place... You're making me all reminicant...New England just isn't the same in that way.

They do when my kids are dropping food to them. ;) Don't forget all those fishies too! The fish were like pirahna's jumping out of the water. The fish almost looked like that nest of caterpillars when the food was dropped.

Awww thanks, I'm kinda partial to them. :D

I'm glad you liked them. I could try sending you some, but I don't know the shipping requirements for caterpillars. ;)
