    Snakes for "adoption" huh?
I have 2 Biak GTP yearlings for adoption. 1 male, 1 female. Female is very tame, the male not so much. Can't find any better looking chondros than these 2. Also have a 6 year old Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boa. He is a proven breeder with papers and is 100% hand-tame. Also have an assortment of female ball pythons, leucistic leopard geckos, florida kingsnakes, normal and albino california kingsnakes, baby savannah moniters, tarantulas, scorpions, an everglades yellow rat snake, a Russian burrowing(sand) boa, and several more. All are in wonderful health. I just need to downsize the collection a bit. Can provide pictures. Please contact about adoption fees if interested.

That's a craigslist ad... I'm wondering what kind of place you all would guess this to be... before I look into those female BPs.. I know you all have to have much more diverse experiences than I do, so I want your input :) TIA!

Could be anything from a flipper to a person selling off their reptiles. I'd be real nervous about getting any thing from someone like this. Might be fine then again it might not.

What's a flipper? Who are the people to report this to if it is indeed a bad place for these reptiles?

I believe they're the "middleman" who buys reptiles and resells.

Sort of like a dealer. :P

    A flipper, according to google:

    1) Flipper was a television series that ran from from 1964 till 1967 on NBC. The series was a spin-off from the 1963 movie Flipper and centered on Park Ranger Porter Ricks (played by Brian Kelly), his sons Sandy (Luke Halpin) and "Bud" (Tommy Norden), and their pet dolphin Flipper.

Perhaps the person posting the ad starred in the TV series?

But in all honesty, a flipper is someone who acquires a whole bunch of reptiles they plan on reselling as soon as they possibly can. Basically, they only have the huge collection for as long as it takes them to sell it all off. If there are bad conditions, you could actually go to your local ASPCA or police department for further investigation. Hope that helps!

BINGO they buy wholesale and sell them are retail prices. Alot of times the animals are only in there place long enough to get reboxed

Yes, and I would like to add that they often sell them:

They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
    Flying there-under, under the sea!

Wow, that sucks... I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that snakes and reptiles would be poorly cared for and shipped like merchandise when there are puppy mills etc doing it to the cute fluffy critters too...

Hopefully it won't be so bad I need to call anyone and hopefully I won't walk out with another snake :P

Yeah, so I wouldn't reccommend buying from this seller unless you could maybe see the animal(s) you may want in person. ;)

His ad sure sounds like a flipper's ad in my humble opinion.

Is it legal to be a flipper?

Im not a lawyer but I would think as long as you:
    - obtained the reptiles legally
    - made sure they are all legal reptiles for that area
    - did not neglect or mistreat the animals

You would be well within the law. Its basically the same as you or I going to the petstore, buying every reptile they have and selling them for a profit. The only harm is to the reptiles IF they are mistreated.

Sadly, yes. As long as the animals are legal and kept in "humane" conditions(meaning as long as no one complains) the law can't do anything about them. :(

It kinda sounds like that person might really be slimming down??? Especially considering that the Boa has papers...? When I was about 16? I wound up the the craziest assortment from a pet shop that closed in distress... My mom and I got that call.."If you want it, come get it"... My mom and I moved 20 reptiles? Almost all lizards of some kind...10 dogs... 15 cats... An Oscar, and a Newt, and some Tarantulas! :P We got them all placed in adoption groups, gave to friends, My mom kept a cat (retired breeder) and I kept the Rose Hair Tarantula and a Plated Lizard  ... But if there had been a CraigsList... my add might have read similar??? Oh heck, who knows.......... It's Friday! I'm rambling bad today.... someone pinch me.

"Flipping" is legal, but selling animals is prohibited on Craigslist, hence the term "up for adoption."

What's so bad about the ad? It just sounds like someone who's selling off their collection.. I would have to go and see the animals myself before forming any opinion on the poster. Any kind of knee-jerk reaction just seems foolosh to me.

And really, what is so bad about being a flipper? As long as a seller is completely honest about an animal, and keeps up their husbandry and quarantine practices, I see nothing wrong with it.
What good would laws against flipping be? There are already so many of our freedoms being taken away by Big Brother.. it's American capitalism.

I think people are sore that they are treating animals as shelf products. It is also leaking back onto the argument we had here about flippers a few weeks ago.
