    Biting.
What exactly do you do when a BP bites you?do they just tag you and let go or do they hold on?if they hold on,what exactly do you do to get them to let go or do you just wait for them to let go themselves?

Normally they just hit fast as lightning and release, leaving you with little more than a paper cut really. Most if any damage comes from you instinctively pulling back and yanking one of their teeth through your skin (always check that they didn't leave any behind...they are VERY tiny). Most times they won't constrict on you. I've been bit way, way worse by our rats or heck, one of my own kids LOL.

iv never been bitten,i was just curious thats all,she constricts my hand and arm playfully tho,,i unwrap her off my left arm and she is already coiling herself round my right.then she looks at me , flicks her tongue and releases.

LOL Yep some of them like to hang on really tightly. One of our females can squeeze my wrist enough to make my hand go achey then numb. She's a brat and strong as an ox for her size.

I agree with Joanna - I'd rather be bit any day by a ball python than a rat! Until very recently I'd only been tagged by a couple of hatchlings and they don't bite hard enough to even draw blood in most cases. A month or so ago one of my big normal females tagged me on the arm pretty good - but she hit and released - no constricting at all. I guess I didn't taste like a fat rat! :D

I'd rather a hand bite from a dog than a rat... I really do hate rodent bites... I'm glad you started this thread ReptileMan! I've been wondering what a snake bite was like myself :P

    snake bites > rat bites

I have been bitten 4 or 5 times from snakes everywhere from my 06 pastel to my 1400 g normal female. It does not hurt much, it is more the shock that you were just bit and the snake is back to normal before you could even react. Rat bites on the other hand...

I never got bitten by BP yet, only from Burmese Python. Actually they kinda striked real fast. Drew blood from me though even though they're just a baby. I got striked by diferent Burmese in two days period lol

I think got bitten twice is not bad considering working in a pet trade :D

Ball Pythons will tag you quickly if it is just for defense. If they mistake you for food, however, they will grab you, constrict you and not let go..

You will be able to tell when they try and bite, as they kind of make an S with their neck. Watch them enough, and you will be able to predict a strike just looking at them.

But all in all, it hurts a hell of a lot more to be bitten by a rat than a BP.

I've been bitten enough by both.. :D Love nibbles, I call them.

....Although if a rat does that to me, it is someones dinner.

i think cat bites are the worst of all... my girlfriend got bitten by her cat (long story) and the next day her had was swollen and ended up getting what the call "cat scratch fever". she was on antibiotics for weeks and in a splint for 2 months.

too bad the cat couln'd be dinner ;)

Actually the worst bite I got is from my girlfriend. And when I came home, my wife saw the bite mark....

Seriously folks, there's one kind of snake in Thailand that got some chemical in their fangs that make blood...how to say in English...difficult to be harden. So the bleeding will last longer, similar to what leeches got in their saliva. Their fangs are very long and sharp as well. The snake itself is not big at all. Even when you hold it by neck, it still can move and bite you. Mean little son of serpants. Let me look for pics.

I've been bitten once, by a 1500g female. (just a grab and release) It happened so fast that I would have been hard pressed to say I was bitten, except the blood was a dead giveaway. ;) Actually, it was a big let down considering I was a bit nervous to be bitten.

Heck my hubby Mike got tagged (really just a love tap) from a 6 foot plus female BCI...really left nothing but a couple of punctures. The very next day he's at work and people are flat out freaking out because they "heard" he got bit by a big snake LOL.

The next week he's helping our friend's mom move and one of her spoiled rotten cats claws the living beejesus out of his chest...through his shirt mind you...with only it's hind feet! What a mess!

Funny how nobody freaks out about that. LOL
