What in the world? Regurge question..
 I know I just posted today already, but I just went to look at Zeke and he was freaking out. He was like sitting there with him mouth open, and he was like squirming around and stuff. He just puked up this clear mucus-like stuff. I tried to feed him last night, but he wouldnt eat [which is why I finally decided to switch to a tub]. We got shots from the vet to give to him for a skin infection. Do you think that may have caused it? What should I do??

    Here are pics..

PLEASE HELP!! I'm really freaking out right now!!

He has a respiratory infection, a pretty advanced one from the looks of it. Don't try to feed him. Make sure he's nice and warm, and get him into the vet immediately for treatment. It will not go away untreated, and left untreated, could kill him. He should be fine until Monday if you keep him warm and can't afford an emergency vet right now.

we just took him to the vet last week, and the vet said that he doesn't have a repsiratory infection.

Take him back to the vet and have the vet do a RI (respiratory infection) culture on him. I know when my BP gang had a really bad RI my big girl puked up a mucus ball which looked exactly like that in your pictures.

What kind of shots did the vet give you for the skin condition/infection? Does he have scale rot?

Since I can't edit my post, I'll post this:

I just read your other thread you wrote about him opening his mouth and having bubbles and being able to hear him breath. THEY ARE ALL 100% SIGNS OF AN RI! RI's are nothing to play around with or to be let go. They will not go away unless treated. I urge you to take Zeke back to that vet, or to find another herp vet who can diagnose snakes a bit better.

For the time being you can let him soak in some warm water for 30-40 minutes. The warm water and humidity it makes will help loosen up the mucus in his lungs. It will help him be able to breath a easier. Do this daily till you take him back to the vet.

    GOOD LUCK!

May I ask what kind of vet did you go to? Was he an herp vet?

We took him to Richard Funk [he's the president of ARAV] and yes, he's a herp vet. He got Zeke to open his mouth while we were there and listened to his breathing for a few minutes, and there weren't any sounds at all..

I'd take him back and have him do a culture, that mucus that came out of his mouth is not normal.

I probably won't be able to take him back until this saturday, though. I MIGHT be able to go on thursday since it's early release, but I HIGHLY doubt it. Do you think he'll be okay until then?

If it were me, I wouldn't wait - I'd take the day off from work or shuffle my schedule around. He can't cough to clear his lung, so it's got to be very uncomfortable for him.

How important is this to you? You shouldn't have to miss more than two hours of school. Your snake has a very advanced RI and needs to be taken to a vet... you act as if it's of very low priority. :hmm:

No, it's a VERY highpriority to me, but my mom won't let me miss anymore school! She doesn't even really think there's anything wrong with him. I don't know what I should do!!

sausage i like your avatar and i dont mean to be rude here but how can you say what is or what isnt a priority in a persons life that you dont know anything about.

at least xhunniebearx is already taking the snake to the vet and is planning another visit to get this respiratory infection under control. most snake owners aren't responsible enough to even have proper husbandry let alone take time out of their life to bring their snake to the vet.

xhunniebearx i'm sure you already know but it is important that you get your bp to the vet as soon as you possibly can. listen to the advice given by the great people here at bp.net to keep your snake as healthy as possible until your next vet visit.

Sorry if that came off as rude. I guess we just interpreted the posts differently. I've seen lots of people in situations on other forums and whatnot where their snakes had the "cheese" hanging out of their mouths and the owners just said "Lol, he's just drooling."

Once again, I apologize and I'm glad to hear that you got him an appointment, hunniebear. :gj: Deepest apologies if I came off as rude.

We just got back from the vet, we've got antibiotics for his RI [just some shots to give him every 4 days] so hopefully he'll get better. His skin infection is cleared up, too. So, once we get the RI under control, then he'll be good to go!

And this is a little bit off-topic, but I think it's hilarious. Last time we went to the vet he told us to bring our other snakes in to get them sexed. Well, as it turns out, we were wrong about ALL of them! LOL! Sassy is a boy [the one with the RI - now Zeke] Snowfire and Sheila are both boys, and Boomer is a girl! Boomer and Sheila the only ones that we had sexed when we got them, but they looked so much alike when we bought them, that they MUST have gotten mixed up.

I have a question, How did your snake get the RI? Is your temps right or do they just get it.? I'm new to balls always liked large lizards but got out because they can be mean bite to many times.
