    Today's Youth
This is more for venting than anything else.

I have been having problems with 3 kids that live behind me. They have torn up my yard, Pulled up my flowers, left trash in my back yard, and broke 3 windows. I have called the MPs, (Military Police) Talked with the mother, I even called Houseing, and nothing has been done about theis brats. The group contains a 3 year old, a 7 year old, and an 8 year old. All are well under the Post Age Limit to be left alone outside with out an adult. (Age limit is 10)

They have pushed me to the breaking point today however. I was sitting outside watching some Anoles sunning on a rock in what was my garden and I spotted a Green snake hunting the lizards. (dont know what type it was just bright green) I walked in side to get my camara when I heard a kid yell. By the time I got outside to see what was going on, it was to late. the snake was shreaded. the older one of the group found my shuvel and hacked the poor thing up. There only responce to killing the snake was "it was fun, it wiggled and twisted all funny"

I just dont know what to do any more.

    I give up.

I wish I could but Post Regs state that I can only have a 3 foot high fence that is not harmful to the public. Also i have to get a permit to get a fence, and it is pointless to spend the money to get one when I will have to tare it down in less than a month.

go up to them and give them a mild empty threat/lecture. kids their age are scared when you tell them "if you go into my yard again i will tell your parents". if their parents dont care (which sounds like they dont), grab them by the arm go to their parents and notify the parents about what is going on and if you cant control your kids, i'll call the police (which will also scare the parents)

    Sue for trespassing ;)

Honestly, I'd just "threaten" them... it usually works with little kids.

adi: tryed that, didnt work. I have called the cops and nothing happened. you have to think... I live on a military base. the Mps no longer have thecontrol they once had. DoD is taking over and they are overwelmed with drunk and ... "frustrated" *that was the best word I could come up with, with out being baned* AIT students that cant keep there jons in ther jockies that they dont have time to deal with "petty cases"

As for Sueing for trespassing? cant do it. I'm under a GMH Legal contract that states that if my yard is not fienced in it is classified as comunity property. I.E I cant sue. I hate GMH!!!

Edit: they dont care if you say your going to kill tem. (like the guy that lives next to them) they are gutsy little $&*!$. i have tossed all there crud away that was in my backyard and I told them if it comes in my yard it goes in the trash, but they just dont care.

Try scaring them. When they're outside alone go out there with a chainsaw in some clothes with cow's blood all over them and start sawing up wood. Also, grunt a lot and smile crazily at them while licking your lips. Maybe add a few psychotic bursts of unjustified laughter. IMO

Wow, sounds like these little 'angels' need to be taught a lesson. Does thier yard have a fence? If so, thier yard is community property and you should go over and break all thier toys. If the parents or children complain, tell them about everything the children have done to you. I'd probably end up going to jail if I were in your position. :D

I have a Soft Air, Short Barrel, pump action, BB Shotgun. it shoots plastic BB and is seethrough with a bright orange tip. I dose however shoot at 1000 fps . total weight 5.6 lbs. it is from Crossman. it also came with a matching plastic BB pistol. it shoots up to 350 fps. total weight 1.2 lbs

lol but that is only for Range target pratice. i dont shoot them in houseing.

Added: no fience at there place and they get every freaking kid on the block at there place due to having a trampolean. (sp?!) I have tryed almost everything..... I might have to find an EDB rattler and let it loose ner there house and pick up the snake after they leave to go to the ER. dont want to put the little guy in harms way.

Make it your life to do nothing but to raise all hell with base housing, go down there every day if you have to. If you start driving them nuts they will do something about it just to keep you out of their hair.

The problem with kids these days is that the parents don't give a damn what they do and let them get away with whatever they want.

I have an idea! Take photos of these brats doing the things they do (a pic of them killing the snake would have been great for this) and then enlarge them on your computer, print them out and write their address on them, and hang them at the local store or something. Wouldn't this be hysterical?
Or maybe squirt them with the garden hose "accidentally?"
As for the windshield.. I would be sueing 100%.

If the gun is really 1000 FPS, I wouldn't be shooting people with it. It could probably do some SERIOUS damage to a kid. Think about it... if some firearms (standard pistols I guess) go about 1200 FPS, then just imagine what the airsoft gun would do. It wouldn't be as bad as an actual firearm, but the kids could get seriously injured.

Thats what the guns are made for, its like a cheap paintball knock off. I doubt they shoot that fast, my c02 pellet guns dont shoot that fast, and most airsoft dont use c02

Really? I was under the impression it (talking specifically about her gun, not airsoft in general) was for target practice. Ever been to an organized airsoft competition? There's usually a limit of like 400-500 FPS on how fast your gun can go.

i didnt want to say this at first but now i suggest going to sport chalet and buy a cheap paintball gun. shoot those little kids (make sure not to hit them in the face because that is dangerous). that'll teach them

I do not like any of the shooting ideas. People like me who own and use guns responsibly (whether it's "real guns" or airsoft) don't need to see more terror and knee-jerk-reaction limitations put on our guns because of people shooting the neighborhood kids!! And if she ever did build a legal case against these imbecile kids, how would it look on her side if she was caught shooting the kids, lol?
I would just invest in a sceure, no-climb fence.

she can't have a no-climb fence. I think she already stated that if she were to have any fence, she'd have to pay for it and it could only be 3ft high. Very easy to get over, even for a child.

What I am about to say is sad but very true.

Do not touch, grab by the arm, shoot ,threat or anything remotely close or you are going to end up on the wrong end of that stick.

You can not touch another persons child or you set yourself up for legal/civl action.

Your the adult and they are the children. You have to tread very light.
I understand they are "little you know whats"

Got any children in your family close to their age? If so sic them on them.
( I know it sounds stupid but I had a co-worker who had a similar problem and that is what she did and it worked )

Living on post makes things hard for you. In regular life I would post no trespassing signs and get a big dog. Seems you can't go that route.
Guess your gonna have to make their parents lives hell to get your message across.

I was thinking of that wire mesh that they use for goats, etc.. too small to get a toehold even for a kid.. but yeah, the little suckers could probably vault over it..
See, this is why I could never live in the city, or even suburbia.. I DESPISE neighbors!!!

Update: Well it wasnt the kids that I thought that broke the windsheld. it was one of there friends. I guess he was trying to play baseball in my yard and the bat was to heavy and he lost grip when he swong. the total damage is roughly arount 1500 bucks but we will have to see what Isuzu says about it. my husband is dealing with the parents due to me being mentaly unstable twards children.

I boo booed on the fps lol i was thinking of my grandmothers rifel she told me about this morning. it is 350 fps. you were right I was wrong. i havent been to sleep in almost 36 hours so my brain is shot. I'm at my wits end and i want to curl up in a hide and never come out.

    I just want to move.

Edit: your a Capricorn??? so am I! well in a way... I was born on the Cuspe 21 of dec at 5:21 pm in 1984. the moment the to signs were overlaped. Sag/Cap lol I fight with my self all the time :P :rolleye2:

    Re: Today's Youth
Let's try to remember we are the grownups here so comments like I've seen in this thread are pretty much as childish as it comes. These are young children that are obviously not being minded properly by the adult in charge of them. Kids don't automatically know what is right and wrong in life, that's up to the grownups to teach them so focus that anger where it belongs...on their parents.

Write a letter to their parents, calmly and clearly stating what is happening, send a copy to whoever is appropriate to do so on a military base. Deal with this adult to adult in a calm, adult manner and you might get the results you want. Freaking out never helps when it comes to neighbourhood issues especially when they involve someone's children.

"Today's Youth" do not have problems as far as I'm concerned, today's parents just aren't doing our jobs as well as we should or can. As a neighbour and an adult you might want to try to gently educate these kids and make friends with them, they are unlikely to do damage to your property if they like you and understand what you expect of them as regards your yard.

    Re: Today's Youth
I know this is a problem with the parents and I have tryed to deal with thisin a calm manner multiable times. wrighting letters dosent work .. they have been "returned to sender" ro place back in my mail box with "Stay out of my Koolaid" written on the envalope! I have taken this to the post comander, and to GMH it's self. the only thing i have heard bak is that the family is under investigation for child neglect. Like i stated in my very first post. This is more for venting. Actions speak louder than words and i would never hurt or harm a child. I stoped with the air gun stuff and it was never spoken twards the kids. I stated they are for Range targets only. I dont even keep them in the house. they are locked up in the Command Arms room. I was venting, nothing more nothing less.

Yes they pulled my chain hard with the snake killing but I did nothing about it. The parent refuses to teach her children right and wrong. It is not there fult. but Venting is just that, venting. I have the right to free speach and expression and I felt I keept my posts with in he guide lines of this site. if I didn't I'm sorry and let me know where I went wrong.

Yeah I'm mad at the kids for distroying my property, and i feel I have every right. the ones who did the miss deeds are old enough to know right and wrong, the younger ones... the parents are to blame for neglect.

I have tryed to deal with this in the best possable ways. nothing is working so I'm moving. As for the being mentaly unstable twards children? I stayed home because I would have been yelling things at the parent that no child should hear. so i sent my husband over to talk. at least this parent was willing to take responcability for his childs actions... I wish i could say the same for the other kids parents.

    Sounds like a horrible situation.:(

Dealing with the parents is probably the only recourse. I doubt anything can legally be done apart from accusing them of willfull child neglect by failing to provide an adequate child environment.

It's easy to make statements about what should be done to solve these things (your hubby beating the bejesus out of their dad daily till he talks to them etc) but to be honest they never solve thigns and frequently result in the victim ending up far worse off than the transgressor.:( :taz:

I hope it gets better for you soon.

Can you perhaps buy a viscious dog and kennel it in the back yard?

    Re: Today's Youth
Well, you need to be very careful when it comes to threatening. WHen mommy hears "Neighbor lady said she's gonna cut our throats in our sleep!" she might call the po-po. I don't think I have any room to talk, if I had seen them kill the snake, I probably would have lost my cool and gotten violent. :fork:

Tell the mother/father/she-wolf or whatever the hell is taking care of these little snot nosed brats and threaten to call child services on her. Just remember that you cannot make ANY physical contact with the kids without the risk of this coming back on you if the police do get involved.

Here's another idea: get a reason to sue. Put something breakable and nto meaningful to you in your yard. If they break it, you could take pics, get a list together of damage caused and do a small-claims!

CPS is already involved in the case of the kids behind me. as for the dog lol ... it would be stolen by the local gang here on post and used for fights... BTW 5 teens were arrested for dog fighting this morning, one of the dogs was killed and 2 were stolen dogs.

The guy next to me had a pitt puppy. he placed in in the back yard and went to pick up his kids from school. he came back to the dogs play pen being empty, food bowl gone and toys gone. they still havent found the puppy.

Print out bills for every single thing those kids have done, and take them to the parents, and tell them that you will get the parent's pay docked to repay it if necessary.
Anything they leave on your property, break it, and throw it into THEIR yard, preferably in the driveway so the dad or mom has to move it to get in and out. Likewise, any trash that they put in your yard, put it back into their yard, and into the driveway.
