how often do you feed your males?

i have a male normal bp about 3 feet now eating rats, i was feeding every monday, but i was wondering if i could get by feeding every other monday. pretty much every other week? or should i continue every week till he is full grown? thanks for the help.

All my snakes, male and female are fed once a week. About once every six to eight weeks, I'll skip a week of feeding every one.

out of curiosity, why do you skip a week every 6 weeks?

Every snake is different, so I'll say this - pay attention to his stools. If he's passing a lot of material (brown, gooey, fatty stuff) very often, then he's probably eating too much. If they are solid, and not as frequent, then he's getting the right amount.

It keeps them "on their toes" - they don't get a regular meal 52 times a year in the wild - it allows them to rest, combined with smaller regular meals results in more consistent eaters that rarely refuse a meal.

what if its white? and looks like a small peice of chewed bubble gum, only more smooth? that ok?

Thats a urate....that's a snake's way a "peeing" while being super-efficient with their body fluids...so what we would remove in liquid, they pass as almost solid.

oh, I thought urate was supposed to stink, i have had him for 3 weeks and have cleaned out two urates and it didnt smell at all?

I guess that's subjective......but yeah, I think they stink.

During normal times (when I am not rotating them for breeding), my four that are 2000g and over get a largish-medium rat every 10 days. I feed my '05 and '06's once a week; sometimes once every 5 days if my rats are on the smaller side (I breed them.)

As often as I feed my females, no discrimination :P

I feed all my snakes once a week, same day every week regardless of gender, size or age.
