I just finished burying her...
in the back yard:( She died in my arms fighting for every last breath. By the time I stood up to take her and have her put down it was to late. I hate that she suffered, but atleast she died in my arms knowing I love her I hope!
God, who know a little rat could break your heart and make you cry so bad.
Rest In Peace my precioius Speedy.

Re: I just finished burying her...
aaaw i'm so sorry. :( i wish there was something that could have saved her but it happened so fast there is really nothing you could've done. sometimes mother nature knows what's best...
Re: I just finished burying her...
Sorry to hear...I understand how easy it is to get attached to a rat.
Re: I just finished burying her...
:tears: Ohhhhhhhh, Im soooo sorry....
I TOTALLY understand!!! Any idea what happened?? I just saw the "hugging" pic and now I read that Speedy died. ?!????
It's really hard. Rats are loving pets, and their squishiness just wiggles into our hearts!!! Keep the memories. *tears here* <Makes me miss Smudge again>.
Heartfelt condolences!

thank you...Speedy came down with RI and I did not notice any symptoms until last night...I went this afternoon and got her tetricycline but it was to late:(
Re: I just finished burying her...
please don't beat yourself up over this lisa. honestly, the symptoms came on so fast and you had a huge obligation at your home to attend to... may the angels wrap her in their arms and may they both comfort you
Re: I just finished burying her...
Awww hon, I'm sorry I wasn't in the forum much and missed all of this. I'm so sorry Speedy passed away and I know you must feel awful about it. Sad but true that often Mother Nature's creatures just don't show us they are extremely ill until it's too late. I think it's nature's way for some animals to hide their illness so they are not perceived as easily preyed on by others. I've had totally healthy looking rats go down hill very suddenly or stroke out on me and it's always terribly upsetting but so much worse when it's one you are closely bonded with. Don't beat yourself up over this, you did what you could and when all is said and done, Speedy did have a wonderful rattie life so try to focus on that and not the sad end of it.
Re: I just finished burying her...
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I know she lived a good life with you. The pics of the two rats "hugging" is priceless too.
Re: I just finished burying her...
I am so sorry about this, Lisa. At least she isn't suffering anymore; you gave her the best life possible. :)
Re: I just finished burying her...
Thank you everyone...I keep trying to figure out where I missed her being sick and if I had just noticed sooner...I know I did what I could for her...but I still wish I could have done more
Re: I just finished burying her...
Soooo sorry. I am very attached to several of my rats.... I'm sure she had the VERY best life! :petting: ***HUGS***
Re: I just finished burying her...
I had a feeder rat once that I ended up holding onto for two weeks due to a poorly timed shed on my snake's part. I cried the day I finally fed that one off. If just two weeks of trying to not get attached can do that...I can fully understand how deep they can wiggle into our hearts.
