One of my babies died..

Some of you may remember that I've had a lot of trouble with my female dumerils boa. I got her two years ago from the NARBC show, and the day after I got her, I realised she had an RI (why I didn't notice anything at the show, I still don't know..)

Anyway, long story short, for these two years she's had chronic RIs.. I've spent thousands of dollars on her at the vet for antibiotics, cultures, lung washes.. etc etc. Poor thing would seem better, we'd stop antibiotics, and she'd get sick again. Possibly a lung abcess or something of the sort..

Anyways, in the past few weeks I could tell she was getting weaker, and this morning she was dead. I just, (the day before) got a month's worth of Fortaz to try for her (we did a second culture on her and got results.. the bacteria was sensitive to Fortaz, so I thought I'd give it another shot) ..so I've got $160 of antibiotics sitting in my freezer now.

My poor Bellatrix.. at least she isn't suffering anymore. :(

Sorry to hear April. I know what its like to go through years with a snake that just never recovers. Its heartbreaking but you did all you could. Hang in there...

There is nothing in the world more frustrating than illness in a loved one that you can't get ahead of no matter how hard you try.

Thank you guys.. it is a big burden lifted from me though.. I was constantly worried about the RI spreading. Of course she was always in quarantine, but as I've said before, my quarantine room is right next door to the main room, and I have no other choice than to have it there.
