    cool.i've never seen any local snakes around here. i'd probably have to go up in the mountains or something.

    i love wild herps! went out to one of my survey sites here in CT, no herps yet, but i did see a fisher, which made it worth it!

    Looks more like "Coluber Constrictor" aka Black Racer. Did you catch it?

    Good eye, did not catch it. just took a couple of quick pictures. :oops:


    Seen a little white under its chin and assumed Black rat, but looking closer at the pictures I can see the coarser scales and the tell tale bluish black color. and the defensive stance is Racer all the way. :)

    If there was an award for most observant........You got it! :P

    I knew the racer immediately. Around here I see about as many racers as I do black rats. I love the look of racers. Their face and eyes give them a really mean look.

    Thats a nice looking Black Rat. Its funny how its just hanging out in your basement. It appears to have more black and less visible pattern than the ones I see here in WV.
