So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
Hell, if it's as good as I think it's gonna be, I'll go see it 2 times in one day.
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
I remember learning about this stand-off that the movie's based on in my "Ancient Civilizations" class a couple years ago. At least, from the previews, it looks like it was based on that. I'm not going to see it, though :) I'm not much for action movies.

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
Hoping to, but may be too busy. If not, then Sunday morning for sure!
I hate going when there are crowds and lines and lots of kids, so I like to go to early morning weekend showings. :-)
I looooved Sin City and can't wait to see this one.

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
I am such a homebody that I wait until the movies are on DVD and then buy/watch them but I think I am going to the theatre to see this one! It looks awesome ;) but I doubt I will be able to tonight. Let us know what you think of it!!!
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
I'll add it to my Netflix queue for the future. Theaters? LOL.:P

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
Ugh. You guys suck. Kim? Come on ... Dudes with beards, swords and muscles. One of the 3 has to interest you! ... What if I told you it was the war version of "The Notebook"? :D Fine! I'll go by myself, and while I watch the movie and I'll think how cool I am to be seeing this. NEENER-NEENER-NEEEEEEENEEEEER! ... Hehe ...

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!

I didn't even see Troy, and that involved Brad Pitt half-naked in a skirt. :D Guys with beards usually don't interest me (no offense to beardy men...it just doesn't do it for me at all), swords (check!) and muscles...well, if they're not SCARY, like the Rock, then muscles are good :)
But none of those things are compelling enough to make me see a movie. Then again, my latest movie choices were terrible. Being the geek that I am, I saw Eragon...and regretted it. Immensely.
Edit: Then again...I really liked Braveheart--but that was full of romance AND violence.

Yeah, he started writing it when he was 16. I've listened to the audio book (I haven't -read- the book, just listened to it), and it was decent. The movie did what movies usually do--and butcher the book. It was just bad.
I love Dragonheart (the first one--the second one was worse that Eragon), and I was hoping that by now--so many years later--that the graphics and story could be equally as good as Dragonheart. But, alas.

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
i'm going to see it just not tonight, im going next weekend, cant wait, the preview look awesome...
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
I think it looks like a good movie, but not one that I'm planning on being there for the opening day or anything. If the wife and I get bored we might go see it.
Now give me a nerdy movie or anything new from kevin smith and I'll stand in line ;)
Speaking of nerdy. I am super intrested in criminal psychology, especially serial killers so I really REALLY wanted to see Zodiac (he was my favorite serial killer) but I haven't gotten to see it yet. If I go see a movie tonight, that'll be it :gj:

i saw it last week when it came out,it was pretty good. the only "bad" part ot it, it was nearly 3 hours long!! my friends and i stayed after midnight cause it was so long.and it had started at 9:30 pm.
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
i saw 300 at the opening show at midnight and it was really well done, of course not really historically accurate but a really great movie. and yes it is really violent, if you don't like seeing bodies piled high avoid it. And azure, even though they do have beards theyre all ripped so you'd like it. So I'd definitely reccomend it.
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
i am going to see this tonight for sure it looks awesome
-
Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
I just wanna hear the screeching sound of swords against a warriors skull.

The queen scene with the council got a big applause.

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
Okay, I saw it and was really disappointed. :-( Without providing too many spoilers, I thought it was totally predictable and unimaginative, not to mention possibly inflammatory in this time of Middle Eastern strife, what with the buff white guys fighting for righteous freedom against the tyrannical and licentious Persians. I found the whole thing a little bit disquieting. I had hoped for so mch more.

I hope it was predictable since it was based on a graphic novel from 1998, another movie from 1962, and the real life event of The Battle of Thermopylae that took place in 480 B.C.
In the real battle a bunch of buff white guys did kill a bunch of Persians that occupied present day Iran. So I can see where you found a resemblance to the current Middle Eastern strife.
:sweeet:

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
Sure, the history is written...but they could have used better dialogue.
The Spartan captain's son is killed, and he laments "I never told him I loved him!"...I mean, c'mon! That's soooooo cliche'd.

I don't plan on seeing it :) Ever read Rotten Tomatoes? They do movie reviews--or, rather--they gather reviews and then come to a concensus. Their concensus?: "A simple-minded but visually exciting experience." http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/300/

Re: So... Who's gonna see 300 today?!
The movie still ruled. Saw it again today, and again there was another applaud at the end.
Just consider "300" the mens version of "The Notebook". :D

I've read a few reports from journalists that have made comparisons about this to the iraq war, and parts of the current middle eastern strife. However, it is based on the acutal battle and the graphic novel.
I really liked it. As for critic reviews, there have been a few movies that people really loved and the critics hated. Fight club is one example.

actually the movie is based on Frank Millers comic book animated series "300" and not history itself
