    OMG, What HAVE I done?!?????
:O :O :O Aaaaaaaack! I did it....I REAAAALLY did it! Yesterday morning, for two hours, I signed away my firstborn and the next 30 years of my life...and bought a house! :omfg: lol

I've been trying to get into a place ever since my separation, and almost had .98 ac in Sept. 05, but got shafted by the seller (still trying to get THAT straightened out!  :angered: :stab: )

But, this one is 3bed/2bath, 2.5 acres, with a 2-car detached garage. It's an older MFH, but in really good condition.....brand new carpeting, newer appliances (which I get :carrot: ) aaaaand a GARDEN TUB!! Yipppppeeee!!:gj: All for the low, low price (yeah, riiiiiiiiight) of $178,500. Property values have shot thru the roof sooooo much in the W Valley over the past 10 yrs it's disgusting and frustrating when you're trying to buy!!!!!!!

R will still get her own room, it's bigger than what she has now, the cats will have room to chase each other, I'll have a bigger room and room for bookcases and my grandmother's china hutch I inherited...and the snakes will be in the "spare" bedroom w/better temp control until I can get the shop area of the garage sealed, insulated & remodeled so they can go out there.

Unfortunately, it's going to cost me $4800 to get the pasture fenced, but it's going to be done by a pro, and that way the horses (4) and eventually a steer or two won't be able to get out. :D

Pray to God I don't lose my job ANY time soon!!!!!:( And I thought my budget was tight BEFORE! :sigh2: At least now, it's MY place to do as I please.....oh, and FHA's...can't forget them!

Congrats Sweety. Always feels good to get something all your own. It is definitely stressful, but so exciting at the same time.

    Congratulations!!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

That sounds like a great place! I bought my home a few years ago and it was 167,900.00 and today I could sell it for (supposedly) 350,000.00. But these houses around here are WAYYYYYY overpriced! I mean it is completely ridiculous! You don't get much of a yard. For instance...a quarter acre of just property...no house...is about 40,000.00 alone! a quarter acre!!! So it is real hard to get a home around here at a decent price. I am just GLAD Jeff and I got ours when the market was "good".

I wish I could have my own house, but alas, I am but a poor college student. I keep trying to convince my grandmother not to sell the little house that my mom is currently living in. She could give it to me! That way I could have two bedrooms for reptiles!

Congrats on the house. Prices have gone up here as well.

You're on an acerage for $175k?! LUCKY DUCK!
Housing prices in Calgary are TRULY ridiculous. You get a little plot of house with a backyard so small you could stand at your house and shake hands with your beighbour through the fence for $175. And decent acerage is over $500,000!
Thank your lucky stars, and it sounds like you're living one of your dreams anyway - so savour that! The money will come, and you will get by as long as you're happy with your home :)

You know what you need to do....go buy a HUGE nail...walk into your new home and drive it any damn place you feel like! LOL

I hate renting and can't wait to buy a home again. There's just nothing like living in something you own rather than rent. Congrats! We want pics! :)

How exciting RuLyn!! A place you can call your own with room for the animals, couldn't ask for more! :D The wife and I got into our house right before property values in the area went way up too, and it has definitely been the best investment we've made as a married couple. Congrats!!

Awesome! I am so happy for you that you were able to get both a home for you/your daughter, but also have some horsey acreage too. We know how important that is.. :)
Around western NY, property values are not nearly as high as people have described Here. For 200k, there is an awesome huge log home with 10 acres not too far from here.. that seems high!

I sold a house in Florida 2 1/2 years ago. 4/2/2 on less than a 1/4 acre. Paid 80k for it in 1993, sold it for 172k. Moved to NC, got a 5 br/ 3 bath on just over an acre for 165k. It appraises at about 250k now. I added a garage and a shed, but other than that it's just like I bought it. When interest rates drop again (and they will) I'll be looking to get 50-60 acres around here or in E. Tennessee. God, I love this country.:D
