    2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
Alright, I know we've talked about it a couple times on here and there have been some requests for pictures of our reptile apartment... I went through and got a photo tour today for everyone... hopefully you will all enjoy... :) this is both lindsey and mine... I'll do my best to navigate you guys through this, and hopefully no one gets lost!

Let's start with the living room kitchen area, which is the beardie/lizard room... I'm sorry about the lighting, in some of them it looks really dark for some reason, but it's not, I promise...

    The kitchen...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...n-2bedroom.jpg

    The kitchen counter...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...r-2bedroom.jpg

    the fish tank... :)
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...forrrgroup.jpg

View of the kitchen from the living room...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...n-2bedroom.jpg

    Cricket bins...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...icketbins1.jpg

This is the view from the kitchen to the left side of the living room...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...romkitchen.jpg

This one is turned slightly towards the living room (going towards the hallway)...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...romhallway.jpg

This is walking into the room, still moving in the same direction...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...deskcorner.jpg

this is moving still further that way and turning toward the entry way (kitchen is just to the right of the picture)...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...livingroom.jpg

Moving on, this is the middle (1st) bedroom... mostly snakes, but there are a couple leopard geckos and the frilled dragon in this room as well...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...dlebedroom.jpg

Now moving into the snake room, here is the vision rack...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...visionrack.jpg

and this is the view as soon as you walk into the door of the snake room...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...m2-bigwall.jpg

this is the arachnid closet, I'm really sorry it's so messy, it just seems like everything ends up there...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...hnidcloset.jpg

and this is walking out of the closet and looking to the other wall in the snake room... moving left to right, that's a 75 gallon, 40 gallon, and 110 gallon...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...-smallwall.jpg

then here's the view from the far wall looking back towards the rack and the closet...
    http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...m1-bigwall.jpg

whew... hopefully everyone could follow that... please feel free to let us know what you think! thanks...

I just have 1 question. Where do you quarantine new animals?

Re: 2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
vomitore, we used that middle bedroom for quarantine... we just reset up that one because we don't have anymore new animals and aren't getting any new ones for a while... like we actually got it finished today...

thanks everyone... no, we don't live there, we have a 1 bedroom on the other side of the apartment complex... and some of our "business partners" live in the apartment next door to the 2 bedroom...

Re: 2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
and I guess worst case, if something came up right now with a new animal, we have our 1 bedroom that we could use and also the neighbors next door... not to mention that we are selling pretty much all of the snakes in the middle bedroom (so we'll have that again for Q), and like 5 or 6 of the beardies will be gone... it should open back up again soon (at least a little)...

the step I'm working on right now is to keep adding to the large snake cage collection... I've got quite a few snakes that will need them within the next year...

LOL okay so you don't actually live in that apt...well that answers my first question about "how in heck do you cook with a tank on your stove???" Looks like a lot of critters but you've got some lovely setups there! :)

Re: 2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
thank you... the only normal things we really use there is the sinks, fridge, and bathrooms...

and yes, we do go through a lot of frozen snake food, so we have the whole freezer full in this apartment and then our neighbors next door have a big deep freeze for rabbits (and rats sometimes)...

just trying to organize everything and make it work, feeding all the snakes at one time takes me about 13 hours... so i split it up into different groups so then I only spend 4 or 5 hours at a time cleaning and feeding, several times a week... lindsey does the lizards and they don't take as long overall just because she cleans and feeds them every day...

That happened to a member here a couple of years ago. She was keeping them in her closet and the DEA picked up the heat from a chopper. Needless to say she got kick out of the Apt. and lost her animals. :( :( very sad. But it could happen

Most Apt's don't like "snake" reptiles are fine but not snakes. That's specisium

Re: 2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
I have wondered about that... :)

As far as the landlord... yeah, she knows and she comes by sometimes to see everything... the funny thing is, there is a 20 lbs weight limit on pets here (dogs and cats) and I just think it's funny that several of the snakes are already past that and they are all still growing... :D I never had to pay a pet deposit either...

Re: 2 bedroom reptiles ONLY apartment...
well, the larger carpets are in 40 gallon breeder tanks, and the two younger ones are in the rack for the time being... and as for the large snakes, I don't have too many that are actually LARGE yet, but the ones I do have are:

    6' Burmese - 48" x 24" x 14" vision
    10' Green Anaconda - 54" x 36" x 18" vision
    12.5' Super Tiger Reticulated - 72" x 36" x 18" vision
    11' Albino Reticulated - 72" x 36" x 18" vision
    9' Olive Python - 110 gallon
11' Tiger Reticulated - 75 gallon (the only reason he's in there is because he's CRAZY, and I've tried to put him in a vision and he got so worked up anytime I had to deal with him that he didn't eat for 2 months, so I took him out)

and then most of the other snakes are still 7 ft. or under...

That is awesome! As a fiancee to a property manager, I can say that as a landlord, I would Definately prefer someone having reptiles, over say a cat or dog. Entering one of our vacated apartments, my nose was Stunned at what mess One cat can leave behind! I see nothing but cleanlinesss at your place (well, cluttered closet, but who does not have that?) I would be happy to rent to you. :)

well dang Ginevive, I wish we lived in New York so we could rent from you... we're going to be moving back to austin at the end of this year and I'm pretty worried about getting new arrangements worked up... but we're going through things right now and figuring it all out...

it's kind of a lot to explain for the actual reason, but it just kind of HAD to be the apartment right now... plus most storage rooms don't have a kitchen and we spend a lot of ours in the kitchen...

yeah, it's gets a little toasty in there... but that's what the AC is for, we can regulate and monitor the overall temperature pretty easily, but it stays about 81-83 in the snake room, and then the lizard room is warmer during the day, and a lot cooler at night...

Why is there a bed? Just wondering since nobody lives there. And do you have some kind of security system. If nobody lives there, I'm guessing people arn't there the majority of the day. If someone broke into that place, jackpot (saying thats what they wanted). Maybe a security cam since you live in another apartment.

I have a little camera and I've thought about setting it up... i also have some window alarms that I'm working on setting up... we do spend quite a few hours over there every day, but also the neighbors are on constant watch... and the landlord keeps an eye out because she knows what's there, and that there's no one living there...

I know what you mean though, and it's something that's bothered me too...

LOL, anybody ever seen "It Takes a Thief" on discovery channel? I wonder what he would do if he broke into this place. He always knows what something is worth. Wonder if he knows what your snakes are worth. He'd prolly break in and scream and run out.
