Gah! I need a new rack....

That big thing isnt the best option anymore. I am thinking about stripping it down, and making mini racks out of it! Or should I just trash it and get plywood and 2x4s? My snakes are growing rapidly ( everything is bigger in Texas:rolleye2: ) so I need sturdier racks!! Could someone give me some advise? Or is there a way I can renforce it?

I have it all compleat though.

imo, that rack is too wide. it will bow/sag alot. i would build one using 32 qt tubs. single column not 2 or 3 tubs wide. build one 5-10 tubs high, use flex for heat, and use mdf,melamine, or sealed plywood like 3/4" birch with a good water based sealant.


the 32 qts can be used with a divider for smaller snakes

PVC plastic will work! I am going to turn that rack into a corn snake rack, fro adults, and I will maek a nice old ghettto-er rack fro the adult balls. babbie corns and balls will haev a separate rack also. Thanks guys!!:rockon: :bow:

The dividers in Vaughn's picture are specifically made for his tubs, which are used in his HerpEnclosures rack. Rich sells those dividers as an option with the rack. I use them in my rack - in fact, Vaughn turned me onto them!

I see now that Reptile Basics also offers dividers for one of his rack models as well.
