Holy Crap...
Time is a bit of a factor.. Sorry!
So I find out today I have room inspections from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Sadly, I am not able to keep pets in the dorms....=\
Would my BP be ok if I were to hide in like a shoebox between these times? I hate to leave her without her lamp and heater but I might have no choice.

Re: Holy Crap...
It might be a better idea to give the bp to one of your friends for a few hours,
he might escape out of the shoebox and that might be a whole new mess

Re: Holy Crap...
I have had to transport her before in the same box so I don't think escape will be a problem. The lid slips on the top and she isn't really big ehough to lift it.

You would be surprised how they are escape artists. Find someone to baby sit her and keep her warm.
I'm just curious why you have a pet in the dorm if they aren't allowed?

Re: Holy Crap...
Yup, just because she has not tried to escape does not mean she cant or wont. I keep plenty of stuff on top of it and secure it with locks. Just give it a friend to for the day. Hope everything went well and you keep your ball nice and healthy. :)

Get you a couple of hand warmers put her in a pillow case (tie the pillow case up good,put her in the shoe box tape the shoe box up so she push it open. Fill the box with old notes and crap from school and write "2006 Doctors info and after care papers" stick it on the top shelf of your closet and you should be fine
:D:salute::halohorn:
I can hide anything in a dorm room

Re: Holy Crap...
I'm in the same situation, but my RA is cool about it...kinda (she is terrified of snakes). Well,she is cool about my friends snakes, she has yet to see mine :hmm:

Re: Holy Crap...
I live in a dorm-type situation, too. Though it's more like an apartment. They're not allowed to search in closets or under beds here...so, Auryn's tub (heat and all) went under the bed. The RA's only glanced in my room, anyway...but he and I survived inspections :)
Tubs=The bestest.

Re: Holy Crap...
It's really a don't ask don't tell thing. The head guy is coming out this one time and LOVES rules.
I may have to switch to a tub but... I dunno. Sad day!
Thanks for the input peoples! :P

Re: Holy Crap...
Good luck! I have a friend who kept gerbils in her room for a while... turned out they were male and female... she wound up with baby gerbils all over the place! :P

Re: Holy Crap...
Just go to a surplus store and buy a foot locker with a working lock. Store the whole tank in it when the campus gestapo comes over for their inspection. If they ask you to unlock it, tell them that it's private. If they insist, throw a big fit and scream about how they're violating your rights, thats always a big crown pleaser.

The only problem with this is that in dorms you sign a waiver saying that anything on the dorm property is open to search, especially if you sign a drug and alcohol contract, it means they have rights to search everything.
When i had my boa in my dorm we had a surprise inspection, where i just threw a towel over the tank and the RHD never saw it but my RA did and gave me a look. This is what i would suggest having been hiding animals in college in the past.
Take and bag your bp in a pillow case, then put him in the bottom/side of your laundry pile or in your laundry sack (sack allows the little guy to breath.) RA's like to look in boxes for drugs and such. so throw some socks and sheets ontop, light stuff.
you could always say it is a pet for a sibling like a present and that it will be gone by the weekend, my bro did that with a hedghog.and he got a warning.
good luck

i like the laundry pile idea! if you put some dirty socks and drawers on top? i'm pretty sure they won't search there! :D

Times have changed! We never had inspections when I was in a dorm, much less surprise ones!

WOW no inspections that would be nice. We have inspections once a quarter and they just show up whenever.

Yeah, this was in the late 80's at the University of NC - Chapel Hill. Man I miss those days!

Re: Holy Crap...
Nice I wish we didn't have inspections, but I suppose with our schools reputation and just the times we live in the deem it necessary so oh well.

@rabernet
UNC eh? I'm here in Raleigh... more of a NCSU fan though. :P

Re: Holy Crap...
Will you be there while there are room inspections? Why not hide snakie in your shirt, or around your neck while you have a hoody on to cover her, no one will be able to see :) G'luck! :)

Re: Holy Crap...
We only have inspections once a semester in the Upperclassmen Apartments. They let us know a week ahead of time when they're going to be--so it's really no big deal to get stuff "out of the way" before they get here.
This semester it consisted of my RA and an RD coming in, looking around. They barely glanced into my room. He said: "You don't have any candles, do you?" I said: "Of course not!" and that was the long and short of it.
They're pretty laid back here at UMD.

Re: Holy Crap...
The rounds here just consist of the floors RA walking around and checking the rooms. The only time they do it is over the long breaks to check for fire hazards thought, so it's not hard to avoid, especially if I'm taking her home during that time.
On a side note, the guy I bought my girly from went to school at OSU as well and lived in the same dorms (boy side obviously). He didn't have a snake in his room...he had a camian croc in there. And his RA was cool with it! He got caught though when his RA went home early and the guy from the floor above had to check...talk about a shock!! He had to go before the rez hall government and what not and testify. *gag* He told them it would be a hardship to take it home before Christmas (it was over Thanksgiving break that they found it) and they let him keep it till then. Of course they forgot to specify that he couldn't bring it back so he took it home for the break and it came right back with him the next semester!! haha ^_^

Re: Holy Crap...
The mission was a success. My snake stayed in a nice little box with her hide and the tank was camouflaged with laundry and such. I was at work while they inspected but all is well. Once I returned her to the tank, she got a drink and is now basking with a smile on her face. :D
Thanks again for all of your input!
It is greatly appreciated...
